Owning a website?

Hey, I was wondering if operating a website qualifies as a solidly listable EC.

I have ran a website since 2005 and it has grown relatively large, making solid yearly revenue and recently receiving several legitimate bids between 2-4k.

Not a huge massive site, but a legitimate forum community that I built up.

I was wondering exactly what the best way to present this on my APP would be, if I should mention it at all.

Thanks!

Yes, this one is definitely legitimate. I'd mention it in essays, but only if it goes along with your passion. For example, if your passion is architecture, and this site focuses on the latest music, it might not be a good idea to focus essays on it (rather mention it in passing).

I have something similar; I co-founded an online software business last year. We got a few hundred thousand downloads of our products and began making a decent amount of money until we closed shop due to school (ugh).

I was thinking of mentioning it as an extracurricular, as it is. It'll look good when I apply to M.I.T. as a computer science major ;) .

I didn't mention any of my online history, simply because it wasn't relevant to anything I was discussing in my essays, etc.

I have owned multiple websites throughout the years, run a successful online store (although I recently switched and moved it over to cafepress to make my life easier) which donates 100% of its profits to the American Cancer Society (which, now that I'm thinking about it...I probably SHOULD have mentioned because my essay was about relay for life) and I used to do web design as a business...but I want to major in political science and said nothing about computers in my essay.

So it really depends on what you are intending on studying and what you mention in your essays, etc.
