Oxford Scholar Program

Hi guys!

I know that the early action option for Oxford College is removed this year and I was wondering if the oxford scholar program is sort of like the replacement for early action but with scholarship consideration, since the online admission decision is posted on December 15th? Am I getting this correctly?

Thanks!

Yes and no. Last year (and for several years before), you could apply early action without applying to the Oxford scholars program. However, you could self-nominate for the Oxford scholars program, so their wasn’t much of an incentive not to self-nominate if you were applying early. The Oxford scholars program isn’t really replacing this per se, but I think a lot more people will apply just to get an earlier, non-binding decision.

Also, just so you know… we’re moving from EA to ED because 1. The increase in applications allows us to 2. Yield rates are becoming a lot harder to predict and ED makes it a lot easier to keep the school from becoming over-enrolled 3. ED lets you identify the students who really want to come here, lower admissions rates, and raise yield percentages.

Thank you so much for clearing that up! :)

Oxford Scholars is a separate decision from undergraduate admissions.
