PA Governors Schools for 2019

For Pitt PA Global Studies 2019, how many students are accepted in the program each year, and can a student reapply if they are not accepted the first year? Are all these programs renewed every year or does it depend on state funding? It’s nice to see programs in addition to the traditional STEM governor’s schools. Thanks in advance for any information.

I don’t know the answers, but it says on the website that acceptance letters go out on February 15th.

Thanks @mommdc

My son is considering applying this year. Did your child end up applying? It’s not free anymore - it costs $4000 and trying to decide if that’s the best place to spend our money. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thank you!

My D21 did attend last summer and really liked it. It was a lot of work, but good insight into what the college experience might be like. It was fully funded for PA state residents and $6500 for out of state although I think all the students ended up being from PA. $4000 is probably comparable to to other 4-6 week programs, but it is expensive. I think the CMU gov school might still be funded fully, but its math/science not global studies. Good luck.

Thank you! I had posted in another thread about whether or not the new price changes the prestige of the program. I know it’s always been highly regarded but also recommended to find free or low cost programs. I have to think this would be different, though.
