we can't bring razors or shaving cream on a carry-on item, is that correct?

no. i'm flying AA and according to their website you are allowed safety razors and shaving cream. there is a restriction on all liquids and gels though. they have to be in a clear "zip" bag and non of the containers can be more then 3 oz

I'm just going to buy that stuff in the Springs. I also believe there is a ban on all pressurized bottles as well (shaving cream, hair spray), but maybe not.

What kind of things are you having your parents bring out to you on PW?

I actually don't think I'm having them bring anything to pw. They're going to ship me everything I want/need after basic.

Well it looks like thats is all I will be taking, and I am sure after you explain the situation to the airline they will let you have a razor if anything they will just keep your bag upfront with the stuartist.

buckaroo, this post is a bit late, but i got a $10 gophone to use 'til parents' weekend. it's about 10 cents a minute but it has free att-att, and i don't care if it gets beaten up.

usafabound, it's not the airline, it's tsa. who evidently hate the air force :)
(i think they're jealous)

The last time I flew was in February, but I doubt the rules have changed much since then. If you have anything more than the one, gallon sized bag (I think) full of small bottles of no more than 3 oz you would be fine. If not, they make but your bag through the luggage check. However you would have to wait in line at the baggage claim to pick it up. I do not know, but I assume if you would check your bag you would have no problem with the razor.

it's quart sized...if you check, you'll have no problem unless you decide to bring fireworks or abrasives...hmm..... :D

i have a small bag (it's going to be heavy though :( ), but I'm just going to check it.

hey, should i bring hair gel for fly-aways or will that be provided? yes, i know everyone said everything, but just checking.

i was gonna try to carry on everything.. my bookbag w/ stuff and my boots. only thing i'm worried about is razor & blades, deodorant, and toothpaste

I believe it was said on another post that hair spray and gel aren't provided and you will probably need to get some before you in-process. I'm taking a 1 oz. tube of gel, then my sponsor family will take me "shopping" for hair spray and a bigger bottle of gel.
I'm planning on doing my hair every night before I go to bed, hair spray it in place, so in the morning, I practically won't have to do anything! hopefully ;)

about underwear....
i MUCH prefer boxers over briefs...but what will the academy give me concerning underwear, and how long am i forced to wear it?

Crap... I forgot about how big deodorant is... hopefully my host family won't mind a trip to wal mart!

deodorant is a solid , i believe solids can be over 3oz. most are slightly over like 3.25oz

Does it have to fit in the little bag? And I'll have to check on the deodorant being a solid thing... I remember something at thanksgiving about not being able to check pumpkin pie, so they do thing a little weird!

Ok, so I checked, and I'm pretty sure that as long as you use solid deodorant, it doesn't have to be three oz or fit in your zip lock bag. I guess they don't like stinky planes!

so about my underwear dilemma...should i just bring enough to last me through thursday?

As long as you're a basic, tightey whiteys are mandatory. After that, it's up to you. So yeah, you'll only need enough to get to Thursday.

With regards to underwear, you're stuck with what you're issued at least through Basic. Underwear is something that can be remedied Parent's Weekend. Printers are also very popular. It's been discussed before, and electric razors may be much more handy out at Jack's.
