Panic Mode: Declining Senior year grades, should I email the Admissions office about

I'm currently about to cry...I don't know what I'll do If I do not get into UD,I applied around December 10, and my last RecLet was downloaded on the 14th by the college...I'm a Delawarean...Is there a possibility they are waiting for my mid-year reports first or not...

My GPA: 3.7 unweighted

SAT: Around 15oo
Many AP Classes, and the rest honors, all my electives were academics science related classes and a business class...I have MANY EC activities and am Pres of one and a vp of another, a sport (track) ....This year I'm taking 4 APs which has taken a lot of toll on me, before I was taking two a year...
I know this will sound like a typical whiny excuse by a senior but it's not: Everything was good until some personal issues got in the way, issues I;m not comfortable telling the admissions office about but they aren't dumb issues like (teenage angst/drama) they're real issues, my guardians know of this issue but they don't know its affected me a lot....

Any way my senior year grades aren't the best, but I Desperatly want to return to my own self and start working hard, I WILL be better 3rd and 4rth marking period, but how should I show colleges that before getting rejected or wait listed....If I get into my other schools but not UD, I'd rather not go to college at all....That's how dedicated or want to attend...The only reasons I applied to other schools was b/c of my GC...This week I had no sleep at all, legit, trying to raise my grade...right now I don't even know how I'm awake...

Would it be too forward to explain this or tell and email the admissions office about my concerns or is it annoying and will it seem too cheesy....I mean I still haven't received a decision and some of my peers already did...My major is going into one of the ehalth sciences but its NOT nursing, I really want to go pre-med but not sure...Will it help that im asian? AND, I'm not enitrly blaming this on my issues, Part of it was me too, and I want to revert...but my mid 2nd mp grades will show that I'm slacking when in fact im just struggling with school/personal things...

I would recommend giving the Admissions Department a call and explain the situation to them. You could email them but they might have questions they need to ask you and this would result in back and forth emails. So I would recommend a phone call. A personal connection would probably be most effective.

With your stats and rigor of courses (and being a Delaware resident) IMHO you should be accepted to UD. UD accepts 87% of Delaware residents who apply to one of their Programs (64% to the Newark Bachelors degree Program and 23% to one of their Associates Degree Programs in Dover, Georgetown, or Wilmington). Even if accepted to the Associates Degree Program many of these students (as long as they do well grade wise in their classes) are subequently accepted into the Newark Program to complete their Bachelors Degree. These are all University of Delaware Programs. IMHO this latter scenerio would be the worst case situation in your case and is probably the least likely. But I think you need to let them know (to the degree you feel comfortable in sharing) what has caused the downward direction in your grades Sr. year. Best of luck to you. I suspect it will work out fine. I do believe UD has a firm commitment to be of service to students from the State of Delaware.

Thank you SO Much for the advice. Turns out I don’t have to send in a letter! Or call! Or Email! I just found that I was ADMITTED! But Thank you so much for the advice.

Congrats…

Now you can breathe…! Congratulations!

Congratulations. I was pretty sure you would be admitted. However it is very important that you return to refining your study skills during the last marking periods of your Sr. year. Courses at UD are very rigorous and they don’t care if you are a Delaware resident or OOS student once you start there. Best of luck to you.

Thank you everyone for the congrats wishes. Best wishes to you guys also in your college endeavors. And, @ Mwallenmd, Yes, Thank you again. And I will take your advce seriously, I will work harder!
