Paper recommendation may arrive late

My DC asked her teacher for a recommendation in Sept. He agreed and she followed up with him every week or two. On Nov 1, he said he didn’t want to use the common app website but that it was written. She looked up other ways to submit it, printed out the paper form, and gave it to him with a stamped envelope that day. He said he sent it last week but the college does not show it as received yet. ED deadline is tomorrow. Does anyone know what will happen if it is late and how long sending paper will delay the process (since I assume someone has to manually log it into the system)? Any suggestions on whether we should involve her counselor or whether parental involvement is appropriate? He told her that he sent it so I’m not actually even sure what we would ask and I’ve only met him once at parent night. Appreciate any advice.

I would call admissions and ask if it was received. The GC can too if you prefer. But if you call you know it is done today.

If not received perhaps it can be scanned and sent on the common app website.

is the teacher afraid to use the website for some reason?

We did send in some paper letters of recommendation from outside of school and they were received and included in the file. I would just call admissions. Your kid can do it but I always said that my kid was busy at school until late hours and asked me to call.

As an update if this happens to anyone else, the phone call to the school helped. This school said they would still consider the file but not send a decision until the recommendation was received. It was just a few days late. They accepted her ED so it worked out ok.
