I really need help. I dont know who to put underneath the parents section in all my college and financial aid applications. My biological parents never married. My biological father died a few yrs ago. I lived with my mom and step father since I was born, until they separated a few yrs ago. I now live with my stepdad and little sister along with his mother. Is he considered a parent? Do I have to include the household i currently live in or just my mothers?

This is very unusual… Maybe there is a section for an unrelated Guardian. Besides that, I’m clueless. Let’s wait more answers.

very unusual…and frustrating.

You need to take this question to the Financial Aid Forum. Use a title along the lines of “Is my Step-Dad my parent for FAFSA? Mom is not around.”

While your step-dad is your parent in a practical sense, whether or not financially responsible for you for financial aid purposes is a whole other question.
