If my parents both attended college outside the United States, would this have any significance when I am applying to college?
No.
@Gumbymom so this wouldn’t be any sort of significant disadvantage for me?
Why would this be a disadvantage? To me, having college educated parents would be seen as an advantage.
How could you even imagine that it’s a disadvantage? That’s bizarre
The only way this could be a disadvantage (and I am in the same boat as you) is that you don’t have legacy at any american schools. Having legacy is such a minute thing, though, so it’s not a big deal.
Similarly, the only way I see this as a disadvantage is that they’re not familiar with the college app process. But that can easily be remedied by research/asking teachers or counselors.
So the child of a graduate of Oxford and a graduate of the Sorbonne ought to be considered disadvantaged in some way? Why?
It is not a disadvantage to your application.
