Can I still fill out the FAFSA form if my parents haven't filed their 2012 taxes yet? My dad said that he could get it done by February 10, but my first FAFSA deadline is on February 1st. Will it get there in time?

Yes you could file your FAFSA using estimated tax information from your dad.

You file it now using estimated figures. Most people get them from last year’s taxes. Then when your dad files his taxes this year (and he should do them as early as he can) you will update your FAFSA. The colleges know that everyone does it this way. You just need to get the estimated version done by Feb 1 to get in line.

So is the Feb 1st deadline a postmarked date? Or does the FAFSA form have to be on the desk by Feb 1st?

Do the online fafsa, the schools get it electronically, it’s not mailed. If you submit it by Feb. 1, that’s fine. A few days earlier wouldn’t hurt.

Before you can submit it you and one parent need to apply for a PIN. It can take a day or 2 so if you don’t have PINs yet, apply for them tomorrow.

Here’s the site:

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

At the top click on PIN Site.

Most student file the FAFSA On The Web. See [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/).

I think you will be fine if you submit it on 2/1/13. Make sure you and one of your parent have the PIN to e-sign the FAFSA. It take time to obtain PIN.

Please check with your FAO.

Actually, I just went through what I could on FAFSA, and my dad and I just made our own PIN numbers. There wasn’t really a long wait, or a confirmation at all. We just requested one, and we got it o.O
