I am applying for transfer and need two recommendations from professors and so I was wondering, is two recommendations from professors in the same discipline acceptable? For instance, I am planning on getting 2 recommendations from two of my English profs (since I know I would get stellar recommendations from them) is that okay? I could ask a prof from another class that I've taken but I don't think the LOR would be as good.

My guess is that at least one of your letters should come from a prof in your major field. So if you are an English major, having two letters from English profs should be no problem -- in fact probably a plus. But if you're a Physics major, two English profs would probably not be so good.

I think I agree with dadx3; two from your major field sounds good to me. If you have more than two to choose from - where you can expect stellar recs - try rounding them out in some way depending on where you want to show strengths (eg, creative writing plus lit; modern American lit. plus English poets or whatever).
