…but I just want it to be over. With a minimum of fuss. It’s not that I don’t care. It’s that I am so tired…

Highhead - I hear you, I am exhausted over this process. I just want to get off this roller coaster!

kinderny: sounds like the best kind of news!!

EmmyBet–As others have been doing, I’ve been thinking of my empty guest room and your JD2 as well! We hosted a Japanese soccer player for a week recently. However, it would be really scary for her to stay with people that not only she doesn’t know, but nobody she knows, knows.

My stolen purse story: When I was in college, my purse was stolen. I found it in a nearby trash can. I knew immediately that a boy had stolen it; any girl would have known immediately that that particular purse was worth much more than the $12 in cash he got!

kinderny, at least YOU just don’t know the contents. We, on the other hand, know neither the contents or the name of the school. That makes our suffering greater. ;)

Something to add to everyone’s to-do list: once you know where your kid is going, book tickets and hotel and car reservations for move-in. If you have the stomach and nerve for it, make refundable hotel reservations for the top contenders now. We are getting awfully close…the Bed, Bath and Beyond website now has their College Shopping tab up.

Can’t decide whether we are driving up (maybe a 16 hour drive, but would visit my parents on the way) or flying.

^^^start gathering up your coupons…they do not care if they’re expired. i will be going in armed with about thirty!

whispering- RPI but don’t tell anybody. ;)

The latest BB&B mailings I have received have been for $5 off rather than 20% off.

Kinderny I hope it’s not a view book or some other insipid mailing!

Speaking of weird mailings, about mid-April of my son’s senior year, he received this very cool mailing about the Claremont Colleges, as if they were the kind of schools to which you could apply in mid-April and get in.

Just discovered this forum today and spent time I SHOULD have spent on housecleaning on the last several pages of posts. Like all of you, I have a senior S anxiously awaiting the last two decisions (Boston College and USC). He has been accepted at the four other schools he applied to and received merit $$ at three of them. More importantly, we are waiting for the FA to arrive, since it makes all the difference on where he will go to school. I think I am more stressed out by the waiting than he is, although he calls every day to see if anything came in the mail. Just reading about all the other parents waiting anxiously is strangely helpful!

highhead and momofboston – i feel exactly as you do. i’m utterly exhausted by this process. including junior year madness, it’s been way too long, well over a year. and now my S will probably visit 2 or 3 schools in april before making a decision. i read a post on another thread where the poster said that both her sons waited until the very last day to make their ultimate decision. i don’t think i could take that. i’m hoping that by mid-april this process is done.

i have another son who is a freshman in HS and i just don’t know how i’m going to go through this again. he’s a very different kid and i’ll probably be visiting a whole set of other schools. probably little to no overlap w/ his brother’s choices. right now, i just want a relaxing summer. i’m glad that my next child is entering sophomore year rather than junior year. i think i need a entire year to recuperate. as much as i’m going to miss both my kids when they’re gone – and i’m experiencing some teary moments when it crosses my mind – an empty nest in this particular moment sounds glorious!

Kinderny, sounds like its congratulations. I certainly hope so. I was just about to reply to your post from this morning when I saw the update. S also applied to the school that posted decisions electronically last Saturday and would not check. Said that he preferred to wait for the mail. He got his admissions envelope from them yesterday. Good luck.

D got in at a safety last week; waiting on the others, who won’t notify til end of March/early April. I’m glad I’m not home to see the mail – I don’t know if I could handle seeing the envelopes and not knowing what’s inside! I will definitely try to be more laidback with S, who’s a freshman. Maybe then I’ll change my cc name to Class of 2018!

Several of the schools where D has recevied acceptances have been contacting her quite a bit. Yesterday she received a call from a professor introducing themselves and asking her if she had any questions. The day before she received a call and an email from a local alumni (different school) asking if she had any questions. Another school has sent either email or something in print every other day for the past 2 weeks…there are envelopes from all three schools in the mail today.

So, I guess this is a good thing but D is feeling pressured. We are re-visiting next week so it will be interesting to see what her reactions will be.

More than I can keep up with, again.

emmybet - thinking of you and your two JD’s. Can’t JD2 just go with you?

Amanda - my little dog eats paper - especially the mail (I have a slot in my door.) She has chewed a few of boychild’s acceptance letters.

Having your wallet stolen is the biggest PITA.

Good luck to everyone still waiting on decisions. I think boychild will hear from St. Lawrence sometime next week but I think Bates will be one of the last to announce. It’s agonizing waiting.

kinderny, vmac, classof2015 congrats on your kids’ acceptances!

There was a small LAC that paid a lot of attention to my son…calls, emails, hand written notes. I felt terrible when he didn’t choose the school and made Son send his admissions officer an email. I could tell by her response that she didn’t care at all!

D is in the middle of doing practice tests to take her math placement exams. She called to ask what her goal was. Pretty smart question since she had Pre-Cal last year, Stats this year and needs Business Cal I & II for her major. I’m hoping that she places in the course right below Cal she can brush up.

Thanks Renaissance Mom! Sending good wishes your way for your child :)

kinderny - assume I can tell you congrats!

Also big woohoo to vmac and classof2015!

This whole process is exhausting. Going through something similar with D right now, only for middle school. Can’t wait for May.

Saw some knomes decked out in college colors on Amazon. Cheap enough so I may just order one for S as a fun graduation gift.

Is she assured of acceptance into FSU’s film school? We looked at FSU for our older son three years ago and at that time, FSU’s film school was a competitive process after freshman year. We couldn’t see the wisdom in paying OOS tuition for a year and then possilby having to transfer because of not being accepted into the film school.
