Whatever happened to Owlice, the original poster of this thread? Seems she hasn’t posted on CC since the end of December. I hope she’s OK.

Congrats to Kinderny’s D on the mysterious envelope! Let us know what it says!

Congrats to Kinderny’s D on the mysterious envelope! Let us know what it says!

Ah well- forgot about the other option besides In or Out- got a WL. Too bad. But what is surprising is D is considering “keeping her options open”. So maybe not wanting to go had more to do with not expecting to get in…but I am just happy it was not a rejection.

But thanks everyone for the good wishes. I just had to post here because there was no one else to share the “news” or suspense with. Thanks for being here.

Kinderny–WL is better than NL (no list ). Glad she’s keeping her options open!

Wow so much news–sorry about the thefts and missing money. Scary stuff when your identity is involved.

Can’t imagine a dog enjoying eating money–too bad they can’t process it and make more come out the other end! ;)

My DS’s room is totally disgusting. Was just telling my DH that it’s his turn try and get that resolved. His solutions is as always–take away the keys and things magically begin to happen–we’ll see!

Hope everyone hears good news on U Chicago!

Today is acceptance day for VA Tech around here. DS has many friends on ED WL. We’re hoping they all get good results–it’s most of their first choices. So I’m sending out good acceptance vibes to all those who are waiting for good news.

I recommend we all go out and enjoy the weekend! This waiting is getting too hard!

to olderwisermom: no, she is not assured a spot with the sophmore class–which really makes it difficult. Daughter has so many abilities–and with taking AP Economics class this year–her interests have sparked on yet another thing! So, we pretty much discussed with her, going down–following her passion for film, try to get into the film program in her sophmore year; and if it falls, try the next year–they gotta let her in sometime!!! With FSU being so large, she can switch her major, and not have to transfer. We are also out of state, but she got a nice merit aid scholarship, and an out-of-state tutition waiver, so she will be paying almost the same as the kids from Florida.

What did your son do with film? Did he study film somewhere else? Thanks for your input!

Kinder: Sorry it wasn’t an acceptance, but waitlist is better than a rejection. If think that if a kid really likes a school it’s worth “keeping her options open,” as long as she also makes a choice from her list of acceptances.

My niece was waitlisted at Vassar a few years ago. Using my CC knowledge, I recommended that my sister have the GC call the school to let them know that Vassar was her first choice and that she would attend if accepted off the waitlist. The admissions oficer said that she had been waitlisted because they didn’t really think she was all that interested. She got off the waitlist. There are a lot of good CC threads about how to proceed if you are waitlisted. It’s worth taking a proactive approach.

Congrats to vmac and Class of 2015.

Mdk: Welcome. A neighbor’s daughter attend FSU and loves it. She was a little homesick at first, so her parents flew down for Parent’s Weekend even though they had planned to skip it.

ST: I loved the “princeton is out” joke. I’d love to start booking things for move-in and parent’s weekend, but BU seems a little vague on dates. I’m hoping that we will get more information after the regular decisions are out.

Thanks momjr- I will check out those threads. I have to tread delicately- she is one that refuses to get her hopes up. Most likely she will want to be passive about it and what will be, will be. As she wants to be a research librarian/archivist, RPI is not really the perfect program for her anyway But Library Science ( or those now called Information Sciences) grad programs value science literacy and computer science (both are strong suits) so RPI’s interdisciplinary science or history of Science programs would work.

mdkskj: Our older son’s story is a long one, posted in several other threads here on CC. He did study media production for a year at a private LAC; became a certified AVID editor–and then he and his girlfriend got pregnant. They are now married and have a gorgeous, one-year old boy. Our son is not in school at this time; he is working full-time as a ministry assistant but he does quite a bit of video editing/graphic design/web design on a freelance basis. Plus videos for the church. He’s going to Nicaragua in April to shoot a fundraising video for an orphanage that his church supports.

It’s been an interesting series of detours.

CHICAGO SAID YES!!!

A little merit, a little more financial - lots of decisions.

Thanks, all of you, for helping me survive to this point.

325 - congrats!!!

Congrats 325…!

Congratulations 32578233!!!

32578233 - YES!! Great news!

Good luck to everyone else waiting today’s news!

I am trying to catch up on the news and failing miserably. Like most of you I am tired of this process. On top of that, while I am reading this thread, my 10yo is playing viola (badly). I have a headache that is reaching migraine proportions.

Sorry to hear about stolen money, sick kids and any other bad news.

Welcome new posters!

Congratulations to the newest acceptances and $$ awarded.

Congratulations, 32578233! :)

congrats 325!!!

Disappointing news here on a fellowship d had applied to. If she had gotten it, would have made the final decision easy! Now she is weighing her top two schools. When I press her on setting a date to decide she gives me the dreaded “death stare”! When I ask her what additional info she needs to make the final choice she says she has all she needs. So I guess we just wait… tick tock…

Glad to hear the Chicago news … I am sentimental; H and I are alums and met there.

Glad to see new posters, too. The more the merrier!

No news, but for the first time, my D asked TWICE if there was mail, and if anything came for her. Her excitement is starting to show.

We have achieved 4 girls here - 17, 17, 20 and 21. A full house!

I have started looking at hotels for move in day. When H& S visited the school which is now #1 choice they stayed in something like a Motel 6. H said it was great. (fo two males I bet it was) Um, I think they will be full by the time I book a hotel, this weekend and we will have to stay somewhere else.

Continuing…

Sorry about all the stolen money and cards.

keylimepie ~ Lol, I just asked S to go practice piano in his room on his (silent) keyboard. He sounds great, but I was getting a headache too…

Kinderny ~ Sorry your D was not accepted today, but waitlist is better than rejection!

Welcome to mdkskj and TeresaMomX3…

congrats 325 !-- if you’re attending the spring accepted students days on april 14-15 let me know. My son will be staying in a dorm but i’ll be at the hilton which has a block of uchicago rooms. this is probably the only school i’ll go back to see w/ him b/c i really want to tour frank lloyd wright’s robie house and i’d like to get back to the Art Institute. i see it as a mini-vacation break for me, and gosh do i need it!

kinderny: i hear you about the WL. i wonder if my S would put himself on one or just cut the school loose. still, it’s good she has the choice to either proceed w/ it or not.

OWM: has your grandson’s b-day party been rescheduled? did i miss hearing about it? hope he’s entirely mended. i’ll be thinking about you, your son and your mom at the ball tomorrow night with a big smile on my face.

Thanks, RenMom. Our grandson’s birthday party has been rescheduled for Sunday. He is just fine. Unfortunately, my mom’s flight is before the party, but it’s okay. She got to spend all of this morning with her grandson and great grandson. Since our son works for a church, he has Friday-Saturday as his weekend, so he hung out here at our house today until nap time.

We’re all going out to dinner tonight–including the Afghan student who used to live with us. My mom just walked into the room with a pretty blouse and pearls on. I don’t have the heart to tell her that Texas Roadhouse is a jeans and t-shirt kind of place!

hollie- sorry about the fellowship. S gives me the death stare also. Yes, he still has more schools to hear from, yes they are unlikely to give him money, no he does no really want to go to any of them more than the one who has already told him they “love him.” So why can’t he commit.
