UT- and what a great option it is! Wow, a lot of us jumping ship today. Hurray for us and condolences for those still sailing the seas on the Indecision.

Count us in on the people on board the ship still. D is still deciding between the two schools - and I’ve told her we are not going to bug her about it. Hopefully, she will mull over her choices over the next couple of days and come up with a choice.

Yep, would love to see my D back to normal. The stress is getting to her, especially as all friends around are making their choices. I fear she’s resorting to “too much homework” as an excuse to not look at the two choices objectively and make a choice.

UT: Congratulations!

Arisamp: You’re not alone. S2 seems to have narrowed his choices to 2 and I think I can predict which one he’ll choose. BUT, he doesn’t seem ready to commit. Too much homework to look at some more websites was last night’s excuse. And so we sail on… At this point, even the “all you can eat” buffet is getting tiresome.

By the way, I ran the “spin the coin” experiment with my son. Heads was Princeton, tails was the LAC that offered the absolutely killer merit offer but only had a “meh” fit. What you are looking for is the feeling while the coin is spinning. I got a half dollar coin, and it seemed to spin for a half minute. It pretty much indicated that his heart was on Princeton and may have made it easier for him to commit.

Congratulations to all the folks jumping ship today! It must feel great!

We’re still on the ship, as DD and DH are still doing college visits this week. She went to one college on Tuesday which was a definite NO, so I guess that is progress. We’re down to 3, with one revisit today and one first time ever visit tomorrow. I’m SO ready to move on to figuring out move-in schedule, booking flights, etc…

UT: Congrats on your son’s decision! Many times when facing a decision, I find myself secretly hoping which side of the coin will come up, while it’s still in the air (or in your case, still spinning).

Oh I did the coin trick, no luck. I tried the pretend you are going to school #1 for a day and the following day, pretend you are going to school #2 etc…no luck. D does have a lot of homework right now but she is also going out with friends to try to relieve some stress, which causes me more stress because I want her home looking at websites etc!! haha

Though last night she entered a competition at school with some friends, “who can make the best outfit out of newspapers!” They won! (along the same theme as making clothes with duct tape). Told her to send that off to the colleges and see if they would give her more Fin.Aid. or a scholarship because of this new found talent (just kidding).

Kinderny, Hurrah!!! I was secretly hoping your D would choose Hampshire. I think she will be incredibly happy there and I bet by the beginning of second semester she won’t be coming home except on breaks - and maybe not even then.

Congrats to everyone else who has disembarked!

And to Blue, I’m sorry for your communities loss. Unfortunately this is an all too frequent occurrence. :(

UT84321 ~ Congrats on Princeton!

I work Wednesday nights so there is always a lot to catch up on on Thursday!

Blue, I’m so sorry to hear about the tragic car accident in your area. You have my prayers and sympathy.

Congrats to the recent dis-embarkees. Funny to think that many of these kids probably don’t even know about our imaginary Ship, the SS Indecision and here they’ve been on it for weeks! I’m waiting for my son to come downstairs and hoping for some news! He’s been in correspondence with the Dean of the department of the College my husband and I both hope he chooses, and I’m seeing that as a good sign.

Woo hoo! Getting off the ship! Son has decided to attend Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont!

Hurray Kathiep- I think this is one of the biggest disembarkation dates for the 11/15 class.
emilybee- me too, kinda, once I visited UAlbany. Being locals we both know the darker side of that place. In this case, the devil you know is not better.
Besides Hampshire is one of those CTCL, so maybe they know something?
So we still have arisamp, bkcsmn99, ohiomom, camathmom (and others I am forgetting)sailing under the excellent captainship of AvonHSDad. Hang in there.

PS everybody don’t forget to update your student’s college destination on the drumroll thread so we can keep track.

Wow…so much exciting news today. Glad I signed on during my lunch hour!
Hope I have everyone:
Congrats to, puma on Whitman, UT on Princeton, kinderny on Hampshire and KathieP on Champlain.

A good friend of my d’s goes to Champlain. He will be a senior this year. Has loved it. Just spent a year “abroad” in Montreal.
congrats everyone…and to those still on board, the shore is in sight!

kathiep: Congratulations on your son’s choice! I knew nothing about Champlain, so had to google it. Beautiful campus!

Still on the ship here. One more visit tomorrow and then the choice must be made! Our visit last weekend turned the ship toward the bigger school, but still wants to re-visit.

Then there is a lurking wait list that could mean losing a deposit, but may be the best option.

Congrats to all who have decided and good luck to those still on board or waiting for a golden ticket from a wait list.

AP tests looming and then the fun end of senior year ahead.

By the way, like several others I also have a HS2015er but can not bring myself to even look at that thread. Really need a break!

We’re still on the ship! But we’re making some good progress.

We’re headed to an accepted student event tomorrow for school #3.

And, I finally received some documents requested by the financial aid office at school #2, so we may actually have a price tag for that one in a week or so. Good golly molly! Here is my good advice for the day…do not inherit a small share in a tiny family partnership which does its taxes in April!!! (Or, not until your children have finished college, anyway.) Without the entire tax return for the partnership, school #2 would not start looking at our financial aid application.

I guess it makes sense that the school which meets full need requires the most documentation. The other schools were okay with the Profile with our estimates, but the super-generous school is much more thorough in determining our need or lack thereof. I feel sorry for the hard-working person who gets to read through the 80 pages I sent her, and see if I filled out my Business and Farm Supplement correctly. I just hope she understands it better than I do.

D is now worried that after she makes her decision she’ll still have some regrets, which I’m sure is true. Saying no to either of the top two would be very difficult. My husband said “So now you’re pre-worrying about the post-worrying??” and got a big laugh out of her which was great to see.

^

hahaha…

Congrats on Champlain, kathiep!

Thanks for the recap Hollisue! Trying to catch up on everyone’s news :)

Hope the FA FAiry sends some good news to all who are awaiting

Here is some ** Fairy dust**
I will catch up with everyone over the week-end …Off tomorrow YAY :D

PS:Sending {{Hugs and special thoughts to you and community}}

Love this!

(Hey! I did it – I figured out the quote function! Truthfully, I don’t think I did anything differently than I did yesterday, but today it worked. If I could figure out how to put a smiley face here, I’d do it. Guess that’s a lesson for another day.)

^
ohiomom24, just add the smiley before you close the quote.
Use : and )

Wow! I got the smiley in there, too! Sometimes it takes so little to make my day. Thanks, aria!
