Park Place

Does anyone have any experience living in the Park Place apartments on-campus? I’m considering those, along with Preston Res. College. The reviews online are pretty bad, but there are only a few, and with so many students at USC, I’m not sure what to think of that. If you have lived at Park Place or heard about it, is it considered to be a good on campus place to live? Thank you!

My daughter knows kids there and while they’re really nice, you don’t know what type of apartment you’ll get (you could end up with a studio or one bedroom and be by yourself which could be good or bad depending on the type of experience you want). The main problem I’ve heard with Park Place is that it’s just so far and actually not on campus–it’s in an area with other apartments. There’s a shuttle, but it’s still a different experience from actually living on campus where you’re close to classes and dining options. Socially, if you want to meet people and have a more traditional college experience your first year, it sounds like the traditional dorms are the best way to get that.

@g8rmomk8ans Thank you! That’s very helpful!

I currently live in Preston and it is a really good option for first year! It’s super affordable and is in the center of campus so you’re about a 5-10 minute walk from the furthest parts. They are very community oriented at first but after that it’s like any other dorm where you can be as involved as you want without being forced. The rooms are also huge. Park Place is just so far that it’s not ideal for your first year because it’s about a15-20 minute walk everywhere and they have a ton of issues right now.
