Ok. So I didn't get offered parking by UCLA parking services. Do I have any other options? Does anyone in the surrounding area rent parking spaces?

Yes - check the MyUCLA forums. People in the apartments are always renting out their parking spots.

how did you find out already? did they post the decisions online???

Dude, I was so upset when I checked the website this morning... but when I called the number they provided to "verify my application status" (like the webpage told me to), I only got a recording talking about SPRING parking. And it didn't give you the opportunity to leave a message. So I just went back online to check the website again (its been about 5 hours since I checked this morning) and it won't let me log on to see my rejection page again. *** is going on?

I thought decisions were released on the fourth?

hmm.

Oh- and they'll email you if you got it. No need to check the website or anything.

ok, here's some free advice. If you buy a parking pass from someone who offers to sell you theirs for cash, be sure they don't report it lost/stolen. You'd think with the thousands and thousands of cars out there, how could they find this one pass? But the people that check cars are out there all day / every day, and have nothing better to do. They find them.

Yeah as a general rule, AVOID buying parking passes from people who are selling. Period. Can get busted for academic dishonesty, even though it's only parking. An on-campus pass isn't worth your education.

Just kidding apparently it was today. And apparently they don't email. Thought they did, but then I remembered that I got my pass last year off the wait list.

And yay. I got mine. But with 36 points, if I hadn't I would've been very, very angry.

According to our records, we did not receive a student parking application from you by the deadline or you were not offered parking for this period.

If you applied online prior to the deadline, please call our office at (310) 825-9871 and confirm the status of your application. Please have your application confirmation number available when you call.

dang it. :(

...Did you apply on time?

yeah i did

Weird. Definitely call.

I applied on time too, but I don't have very many points since I'm living on campus and no outside job once school starts. I got the same message, I think it's normal.

Devr you can see how many points you got here (it helps to know how many you have so that you can plan for subsequent years, and such): http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/students/parking/permits/about/points/

And I'm not sure that they'd say they didnt receive it if they did but you didn't have enough points....I think you'd just be declines outright. I'd still check with them to be sure.

i have 10 :D

Hahahaha because every undergrad who applies gets ten :)

Anyways, even if you don't end up getting it this quarter/year, I think the points guide helps you figure out your strategy for next time.

And believe me, it's ALL about the strategy.

not really, i got the spring quarter last year without anything. careful about "strategizing" on your parking app. if they audit you (i got audited last year) and if anything is not exactly as what you put on your app, you'll be dealt with accordingly, upto and including expulsion (yes, even for parking). if anything changes since the time you apply and you get a permit, you also have to tell them ASAP.

Oh believe me, I know ALL about it.

And my ducks are all in a row.

what do you guys think of renting out parking in covered parking garages on the adjacent streets?
