If you plan to have a car on campus next Fall, it is time to create a parking account and list your parking preferences (if you haven't already).

Map for parking locations: [url=http://web-app.usc.edu/maps/#upc]USC Maps/url *I just checked the link and the map is off to the left. Just drag it to center screen :)

Yes, they send out the notices some time after June 30th. I think there is always room in the Parking Center (on the other side of the 110), so if you put that as your last selection you are sure to have somewhere to park. So far daughter has received her first chioce every year - fingers crossed the luck continues!

*They send out notices after June 30th, but they don’t mail the permits until August.

What should we put down for our housing residence if we haven’t been notified yet? Can you go back and edit your selection if you don’t get your first choice housing?

Yes, you can edit later. If you can, put “on-campus freshman” and leave the housing blank. If it insists you put a location, put whatever your first-choice was. Then select the parking most convenient to the housing you selected. I think the only time you have to put in your housing is for the lots that are reserved for that housing - for Century for example: you have to live at Century to get parking at Century.

Then if you do not get your first-choice, come back and edit your selections (we have edited twice already, so I know it can be done…)

I think the max you can list is 6. Were you able to put 6 on your list, or are you unable to put any on your list? (I show a long list of structures still available.)

Double-check that you have entered your class standing as “Freshman on-campus.” You may have to wait for your housing assignment so you can enter that information. Be sure you are clicking “Add/Edit waitlists” rather than “Purchase a Permit…”

I was getting that message earlier today, but mid-day I was able to enter waitlists. Maybe it will work for you soon. Good luck!

Is it possible to apply later for only second semester? I don’t think I’m going to bring down a car for the first semester but I will for the second.

herpyderp, yes, you can purchase a Spring-only permit later. You can’t right now because they are only selling full-year permits (for those who only need Fall, you buy a full-year and then take it in at the end of the Fall semester and ask to have it cancelled).

The selection of parking locations will not be as good for a Spring only, but I checked yesterday and the Parking Center was still available for purchasing Spring permits for the current semester, so at minimum the Parking Center will be available (and it costs considerably less than the other options). The instructions linked above list Nov 1st through December 7th as the dates to enter the Spring-only parking lottery. Here they are again: http://transnet.usc.edu/pdf/students-summer-fall-spring.pdf

Yes, you can remove yourself from the waiting lists anytime up until June 30th and you will no longer be in the lottery.

After June 30th, the permit will be billed to your account, but you can contact Transportation and cancel the permit up until move-in day. If you receive the permit in the mail, it MUST be returned for a refund. After the semester begins, there is a pro-rated refund, but I am not familiar with the amounts you can expect to be refunded.
