I am not an Ohio resident, but plan on bringing my vehicle out to Ohio State - Columbus Campus. Does anyone know anything regarding parking permits? The only information I’ve found online is through CampusParc

I’ll need to have my car parked in the garage at all times, but it looks like this isn’t possible. Could any current students give me some advice?

Freshmen are not allowed to have cars on campus unless you come from extremely far away (500 miles is the number that comes to mind). There is no garage parking available to students as far as I know- just lots of surfaces lots. Some options include off-peak access, but nothing permanent. The west lots are about a 20 minute bus ride from the center of campus…

I’m obtaining off-campus housing for the Fall semester. Is there any way I can drive to campus and park? Do I need a permit for that? Just temporary parking.

You need a permit to park on campus and you need to have junior (3rd year) status to get one (for “C” permit). Hopefully your off-campus apt will have parking available for you - most places charge about $200 for the year. You can park temporarily at meters or pay to park in the garage on campus. Most students leave their cars at their apts and walk to campus. My son had many classes at the ag section and had to park at the meters - very happy he could get his C sticker this year! Where is your apt? Taking a bus might be an option too.

I’m not a junior, so I guess I won’t be able to park on the campus. My off-campus apartment does have parking for me. I’ll probably just pay park in the parking garages on campus or at the meters. Thanks for the help. My apartment is only a few miles from campus. I’ll be riding my bike to campus during the nice weather and driving during the bad weather (snow).
