Do parking permits sell out quickly? Also, I noticed that they charge you 80/month even for september (even tho you move in on the 19/20th). Would it be wise to buy a parking permit for october-november then skip december since you won't be at uci for 2 weeks due to xmas break. So I'd be buying a oct-nov permit and jan-june permit, is this possible? I can't figure out how to add more than one permit to my cart... My last question is if I wait til January to buy my jan-june permit, will they be sold out? thankyou

it will be hard for anyone to give you a clear answer. this is the first time they’ve ever done a permit by date type thing (pain in the ass…). up until now, its been a simple: buy permit of (insert quarter) or academic year.

so i was talking to a friend and he said when he purchased his permit online, it cost him $720 for the whole year but when i try, it is charging me $800? i tried calling uci’s parking office or whatever but the girl i talked to was pretty clueless… is anyone else being charged 800 for the year?

Yea me too $800. I can’t afford that all at once, so I’m gonna buy the permits separately for each quarter.

^^^800$ ? WOW. It was about 700’s$ for the whole academic year (last years price).

Regarding permits, UCI parking is full of d****che bags. They will sell MORE tickets and there are spots (from what i’ve been told). They will ticket you for having expired registration even if you are parked in the correct spot. They are super anal. I’m not aware of the month by month passes, however, if you are interested in passes, you should get them soon!

You have to make sure what dates you have the pass set for. It seems you may have accidentally put an extra month than your friend because I had to adjust my dates from my move in day to the very last day of the academic year and it was only $720. They automatically set dates which will totaly $800 so change the dates.

When do you they usually start giving parking citations? I already ordered my permit, but I won’t be able to make it to Irvine and pick it up until the 21st. I’ll be living AV and I’ll be moving in on the 20th. I’m worried that they’ll be overly strict and anal about these permits. =/

So this is how these imbeciles charge you: X$/month (depending on your permit type)
15-30 days = full X$/month (that means if you are a month and 16 days, they will charge you two full months)
30 days exactly = full X$/month
1-15 days (full X$/month + 8$/day over a divisible month. ie, 40 days would be 1 month + 10x8$day)

so look at the academic calendar and put in those days.

i dont think they’ll sell out on parking permits, but dont quote me.

itll be cheaper to pay two quarters (Fall-Winter) rather than Fall (skip 2 weeks) then Winter. Because you may be paying for 75 days for fall (so they charge 30days + 30 days + 15 days = 3 months), then 75 days for witner (charged 3 full months), but if you do Fall-Winter 200 days, you’ll be charged 5 full months instead of 6. fiddle around with the start and end date and you’ll see.

the days and stuff are made up for argument purposes only (a quarter isnt exactly 75 days).

so for 1-15 days they charge you $8/day? so if you are purchasing for a 10 day pass you’re pretty much paying the whole month? $8x10=$80?

if so i think i’m just gonna stick with my oct-nov permit for $160 then buy a jan-june to save on the first 2 weeks and xmas break

also, if they sell out, is it possible to buy one from another student and use that?

btw, thanks for the feedback guys
