The posts from GM’s parking Director are very positive, but only shows that someone reading this thread forwarded a message to him (perhaps with a link to this thread), not that he or staff at GMU are reading cc!! Several posters here indicated that they live in the area. Perhaps they know someone at GMU and just forwarded it on.

Someone a few yrs back’s DS had a bad experience with AAA roadside service on the Taconic pkwy in NY, and a reader of that thread forwarded the thread to some high-up person at AAA corporate hqtrs! AAA was not reading cc. CC posters are resourceful problem-solvers.

When we visited colleges we had scoped out the parking procedures in advance, and printed out passes where available/necessary. Still got turned around a time or two on unfamiliar campuses.

Some admissions offices said to stop by in advance and pick up a pass for the dashboard. Most were pretty easy to deal with, but surely the people sitting at the desk have heard the same comments about parking a gazillion times and may be weary of telling people to follow the #)(q#&%#$% instructions or risk getting a ticket (which I agree is likely unenforceable, should Mr GMU parking director not have come to the rescue.)

Reverse story-- At one school, we were parked correctly in an authorized lot and someone hit our car in the parking lot!!! School wasn’t too helpful in dealing with that (the campus police FINALLY came, after we called MULTIPLE times and were out in the hot sun. They wrote up a report- not much else they could do…except not take an hour to show up!!) No worries, Dad II, it wasn’t at Stanford or U of Chicago.
