parking

I understand parking permit is required in umcp for one to park. However, if my parents come and visit me and they dont have a permit, where should they park?

there are some visitor parking lots around campus. Your parents can park there, but then have to pay for the parking. I know one is near the stamp union

Yeah, there’s visitor parking everywhere. Make sure they bring coins as a few parking zones still only have meters instead of pay stations. I think there’s pay station parking near a lot of the dorms, there’s pay station parking kinda near Marie Mount Hall down Regents Drive, there’s pay station parking (big lot) by Stamp on Union Lane, and there’s some by Cole Field House.

Also, after certain hours and on weekends, a lot of the parking lots (Lot 1 and Z come to mind) don’t require permits.

Word of warning though, DOTS is pretty relentless regarding parking tickets. Over the last 4+ years we’ve added some $ to their coffers. If the car is parked somewhere where it should not be, it ALWAYS is the best idea to have someone in/near the car waiting. When your parents come visit, keep in mind you probably wouldn’t hang around your dorm very long…

DOTS would ticket Mother Teresa for letting her meter run out because she was too busy feeding orphans.

^^ Agreed, Rio!!! The last time I was on campus, I parked at the Union lot, and got a free 15 minute parking receipt (at 4:12 p.m.) Much later after I moved the car to Lot 1 at night, I found a parking ticket on my windshield. Funny, it was for a 7-hour violation at the Union lot…which was issued at 4:16 (4 minutes AFTER I arrived!) ??? Luckily I had my receipt and I’m sending it back with a request for a review. Geez.
