I am visiting my daughter on Sunday. She lives in Dickinson. Where is the best place to park? Am I allowed to park in the lot by the dorms or do I need a permit for that lot?

My son lives on East Campus, and when we brought him home 2 weekends ago we parked in the lot by his dorm for about 1 & 1/2 hours Friday afternoon and Sunday evening with no problem. Not sure what it’s like if you are spending the whole day though.

You can go to the parking bureau (which I think is near Perkins) and get a free sticker for the day.

When my DD lived in Rodney last year, there was a small lot where you either had to have a sticker (even the free one above) or park at a meter and pay.

Trabant is a little closer to Rodney than Dickinson, so I parked there a couple of times.

** One time, I parked next to Rodney without realizing I needed a sticker (didn’t see the sign even though I looked) and got a ticket! I called the parking bureau when I got home and they said I could be forgiven one ticket a year! Had to fax them some info. and it was all taken care of.

Thanks Linymom. I can purchase a day permit on-line. Does anyone know if I can use that in the lot by Dickinson? That lot is listed as restricted.

The parking bureau was really easy to reach by phone. If I were you, I’d just give them a call on Monday to get the correct answer.

Thanks Linymom. Unfortunately, I did not think this out very well. I am heading down there tomorrow. I printed a visitor pass for the day but it says I can not use it for lot 12 which is the lot by Dickinson. Hopefully, I’ll find a meter on the street. If not, I’ll drop my mom and sister off at the dorm and go park at Trabant.
