My daughter has always been a creative one it is always had a love and passion for anything that has to do with fashion or design. However, she has never really been an artist she finds much interest in the business world. As I have been researching parsons the new school of design I think she would really thrive there. She took courses at FIT two summers in a row and it has loved it I could totally see her living and working in the city. I’m just worried because she’s not an artist and creating a portfolio might be very challenging thing for her even though she likes to draw that is not her strong suit. Should she still be considering even if she is not an avid painter sculptor jar etc? Also, she sometimes gets intimidated by people and outgoing personalities but then other times she knows how to collaborate with them and create beautiful ideas/projects. My daughter really is talented I’m just not sure if Parsons would be a good fit considering she is not interested in drawing as much as she is interested in learning about the business world of fashion and the business side of design and customer experience. Sorry I know I rambled…
I just toured Parsons about 2 weeks ago. If she liked FIT why wouldn’t she fit in at Parsons? To me, they were both very similar. Although Parsons sees themselves as more “couture” while they see FIT as more “for the masses”. I liked both of the schools, and thought they were virtually equivalent in what they offered. The price at FIT is much less than Parsons.
