Parsons vs. OTIS ?

Hello!

I currently have to decide between Parsons in NY or OTIS in CA. I live in Boston, MA. I've been accepted to both but now I don't know what to do. Both schools gave me scholarships and OTIS is in the process of possibly giving me more money. OTIS would be cheaper than Parsons, even with yearly airfare. I have family in California so my parents are ok with me going to school far away. They said it's up to me to now decide.

On one hand, after doing my research, OTIS is a great school. I had never heard of it before applying there due to a recommendation from my art teacher. I plan on studying Graphic Design, and I heard the programs at both schools were great. I loved the atmosphere and wouldn't mind living in LA.

On the other hand, it's Parsons. Even though it's significantly more expensive, can I really pass it up? I feel as though Parsons is more well known and I'm guaranteed a job coming out of there due to their connections. When I went to accepted student day, I was so intimidated by how everyone was dressed and how they all oozed confidence. I was actually kind of scared. A year ago, when I started applying, I always thought Parsons would be my first choice if I got in, but now I don't know.

So basically, do I take this opportunity of living in LA, in a school that I seem to like, or go to Parsons because of the future job opportunities, great program, etc?

I'm more in this situation because I'm not sure if OTIS and Parsons are on equal levels of being well-known. Maybe it's because I live on the East Coast? People have been telling me that OTIS is the Parsons of the West Coast but I wouldn't know. Anyone have knowledge on the creditability of OTIS?

[My mom also brought up the idea of possibly trying out OTIS first, and if I do not like the school, then transferring to Parsons? Is transferring into Parsons as a sophomore easy? Do credits carry over?]

Thanks!
