I am enlisted troop, in the USAF. I will served 6 years in the US military by the end of my enlistment. I am attending a small no-name college at the moment and should have my BBA in 2015. At the pace I am on now I should graduate with nothing less than a 3.6 GPA. I plan on attending the following schools either part-time or online: Emory University (part-time), Ga Institute of Technology (part-time) University of North Carolina (online), Penn State World Campus (online), and Indiana University (online). Will my chances of getting into these programs part-time or online be hurt by my UG even if I have a high GMAT? What would be a score that's considered competitive for these schools? I've done research and saw that these schools are not as selective when it comes to part-time and online schooling as opposed to full time.

Well that’s 5 schools/programs. You should be able to get into at least one of them. You are correct that the admission requirements for part-time and online programs tends to be lower than for full-time programs. With that being said, you are always in direct competition with other people who are applying at the same time. So historical class profiles can be helpful…but are not a rule. Also while applications to graduate school (including MBA programs) is down; part-time and online MBA programs seem to be growing in popularity as well.

Have you taken GMAT prep courses or purchased a study guide? If I were you, I would shoot for a score in the 600 - 650 range (higher is always better, but I wouldn’t waste the money to re-take if your first score is in this range). Combined with your GPA and military experience, that should be fine for you to gain admission into one of those programs.

I believe your GPA is fine for online/PT. Comparing to class profiles is great to see what range for GPA and GMAT scores. GMAT: Studying with books or a review course and having strong letters of recommendation are ways to help you stand out as an individual. Your experience and GPA should make you a desirable candidate; you may even get into your first choice.

Thanks so much for the replies everyone. Really do appreciate them!!
