<p>Hi! I'm new to College Confidential, so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place or asking the wrong kind of question...</p>
<p>I'm a rising freshman at the University of Maryland, and I was awarded the partial B/K scholarship. Everywhere I look says that it pays for "partial tuition." However, my tuition is already covered by the prepaid college trust, so I'm wondering if the scholarship could then be used to pay for my housing and dining fees. I'm planning to call the B/K scholarship office tomorrow morning, but if someone can let me know how this works before then, that would be really great! Thanks in advance!</p>
<p>I do not see your question specifically answered in the policy document, so it is best to call and ask. It looks like for the 2013-2014 academic year, the partial scholarship had a value of $9,130 for residents. Congratulations on receiving the scholarship!</p>

<p>Thanks for the reply, @Madison85! What I understand from that document is that I would pay the whole cost of attendance first and then UMD would refund me with the scholarship amount… Hopefully the refund will work for room&board since the tuition is already paid for. I’ll definitely call to make sure. </p>
