<p>I have seen the number 8000 mentioned in relation to the half banneker key, and taking into consideration that the Banneker Key is supposedly the most prestigious, why does UMD offer a greater amount, namely 12000/yr in a less prestigious award?</p>
<p>I believe that the $12,000 award is for OOS, while the IS award is $5,000. I think the partial B/K is also adjusted for OOS, but I’m not certain of the details. Scholarship amounts is not something that comes up very much during conversation :/</p>
<p>That would make more sense. I only ask because the UMD site mentions 12,000. But, yeah it says “up to 12,000”. </p>

<p>DS received 8k Presidential as an in state. So not sure if there is a rhyme or reason to these amounts.</p>
