Party Pictures

just in case anyone is interested here are some pictures from a few parties at penn…there are also some social life articles and stuff (read the blow up).

www.dankpictures.com
[the best parties on here are the 84 party (80s themed), the tabard charity ball, the theta crush party, octoberfest, and a few of the dinner parties]

Who are these guys, and where are you bern:)?

most of these guys are either in St. Anthony's or Owls...most of the gals are either in Tabard or Theta. They're like the social creme de la creme at penn...the type that go to bungalow every couple of weeks, weekends in the hamptons, nantucket, etc. I'm in a few of them haithman just in the background...

btw how's the whole Aeon Capital thing going?

Ah I see...you didnt lie, some of those girls look top notch...looks like the kind of thing I need to be in if i make it to W :). Aeon is going great, im always looking to talk to you on AIM but you never seem to be on.

sorry man I'm doing an internship right now so I would normally just be logged on while at work but they don't give us interns administrator access on our computers so i cant download anything!!! so i'm only on really late at night west coast time.

lol no worries. hopefully ill see you ate one of those parties in a years time (and some).

Looks like we unestimated the pot at Penn eh haitham? Looking good bern. hope you have been doing fine. Now lets hope those adcoms at Wharton accept me.

bern you in owls or st a's?

did sharf go to andover?

Wow! I recognize someone in there who is a member at my country club!!! Sweet! I wonder if you know him, Bern...

are the Owls and St. Anthony's essentially "frat"-type societies? as in, how does one go about becoming a member, out of curiosity?

St. A's is a regular frat (i believe their greek name is Delta Psi)...although the people in St. A's are usually very wealthy, preppy Americans. Owls on the other hand "taps" people. They usually tap about 100 freshman (mainly ultra wealthy students- more internationals than Americans). 2 guys in suits usually show up to your door and hand you an invitation to some event...then they just start cutting it down. Event after event. This year I believe they narrowed it down to 8 (out of these 3 are American & the rest intls).

what are you involved in? anything?

I am not involved in frat/secret society...I was tapped for owls and did their whole "rush type" process but I quit when there were about 25 people left so I'm pretty familiar with their process although I have no clue what they do as an organization...other than throw pretty bomb parties.

now, are these girls I see Penn students?

Cuz damn. Once again, another plus for Penn

hahaha yeah all of penn's finest.

i know you're probably not allowed to say anything, but is the process for secrety societies and frats at penn similar to the generic processes at the average school (i.e. heavy drinking, stupid "assignments")?

well the frats are not too harsh (no hardcore drinking and stuff) because they can get in serious trouble with penn. They do make you do a lot of stupid sh it though. The secret societies (from what i've heard) do haze you and they are harsh. I never "pledged" a secret society (just was tapped but never reached the pledging stage) so i don't know the extent...i hear its pretty harsh though.

The difference between secret societies and a regular Penn-frat is pretty much non-existent in terms of function and organization. They are unaffiliated with the university, so they can do whatever they want. But then again, most frats do whatever they want too.
As a columnist in one of the Penn newspapers put it, "If they are so secretive, how come everyone seems to know everything about them." They try to be the Skulls and Bones of Penn, but they really are a fraternity without a greek name.

bern, what are scharf and dorson and co. in?
