Anyone in the know about the party scene at Michigan, please respond to this thread!
It is an important factor I'm considering in the process of choosing my future school.
I only applied to serious academic schools, and I expect to work pretty hard during the week at all of them.
I want weekends to be the polar opposite and consist of crazy parties and debauchery.
I'm under the impression that Michigan is what I'm looking for, as large state schools tend to have amazing party scenes.
But if anyone who has been up there could provide their input I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!

There is definitely a party scene, but it definitely isn’t as big as some other schools but that is more on the basis of responsibility than anything else.

I hope the party scene isn’t a big influence on your decision

lol…parties shouldn’t be a big factor in college…most student who parties a lot get kicked out of college after one year…lol

Go to Michigan State or Ohio State. They are much more…suited to your lifestyle

There are no parties whatsoever at UMich. We’re all nerds here. I don’t even know what beer tastes like. I think everyone is still a virgin, too.

I think you’d have better luck at MSU

Every school is a party school. I wouldn’t worry about it if that’s your scene.

I don’t know why you guys are flaming. She’s just asking if her impression is correct.

I was there for 4 days and had no problem finding parties that were pretty fun so I’m sure that’s only a sign of what’s to come.

Wow, I love how people are saying “MSU and OSU are more suited to your lifestyle” and “most partiers get kicked out in a year”. If you actually read my post I said that I want to work hard during the week but have crazy parties to go to on the weekends.

@kobudnik, Thank you so much for understanding and for providing your input :)

@maxhuang8, Yes, the party scene is a big influence on my decision. One of the biggest, actually. Because like I said, I ONLY applied to top academic schools. So now it’s all about fit and where I will be the happiest.

Seriously people, going to a school that will make you work hard, you want to have some time to just have fun however I don’t know if I personally would base my decision on the party scene. I am an accepted student as well still making my decision. When I visited UMich it seems like there are def the general frat parties and I know our tour was discussing necto which is a popular club i guess. good luck with your decision

Well if your MAIN FACTOR is partying, there are better choices

Haahaha amen massgirl, now if only i could get that damn acceptance…

I think she’s made it evident that she wants a solid academic institution that also has a good partying scene. To me, that sounds like Michigan. Especially when compared with ND or WUSTL, where she said she also got in.

two words: football saturdays.
the pregames and tailgates are insane.
you get a really good mix of partying and good academics here.
it’s a good choice.

massgirl92, you’ll have a good time at Michigan. Go Blue!

The school that comes to mind that may better fit your criteria slightly more is U Wisconsin Madison.

@kobudnik, I’m so glad you understand.
@jLphotographer, Thanks so much for your input! Sounds pretty amazing to me.
@res ipsa, Thanks for also confirming my positive impression of the party scene at UMich :)

I’m pretty sure I’ll be attending! (Not 100%, Ivy and Duke day tomorrow could potentially make my decision difficult if I get in by some miracle)

@2011271, I hope you get that acceptance and that it happens ASAP :)

massgirl- you’re welcome. i’ve live in ann arbor for most of my life, and have witnessed and be part of the craziness that goes on.
michigan is solid for what you seem to want :)
