Party Schools with good academics

I agree thus I said party school w/good academics vs. academic school w/good parties.

UVA is too greek but Duke, Vandy, and W&L (perhaps the most greek school) arent? You need to reconsider your list

Wake Forest's party scene is not as big b/c of the size, but being the number one greek life campus, I can see ur point.

Top public schools are best for partying/academics.

esp. UNC, Wisconsin, UTexas, Florida, etc.

Wake has a solid party scene, but it would go under the heading "Academic Schools with Good Parties"

I have to agree with those who mentioned Indiana! from viewing theU video of Indiana, i learned Play..boy rated it a top party school and hottest girls. the party scene according to sources is really great plus its in a great college town (bloomington) rated one of the best by US News, and Sports Illustrated. Its campus is one of the top five prettiest campuses.
Finally it is very good academically in businesss (top 10), jorunalism and music (better than Juliard).

That being said:
Indiana, Michigan State, Penn State, University of Florida, UNC, UT Knoxville, Florida State, Ohio State

I don't agree with whoever said UVA cannot be considered a school with good academics because it's "too big,too Southern, and too Greek to be considered an intellectual environment." That could possibly be the most ignorant comment I've ever read. Like ckmets said, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Washington&Lee are even more in the south and they are even more Greek than UVA.

He didnt say uva didnt have good academics, he said its not an intellectual environment. UVA and UNC have great academics but its not like W&M or Davidson or Duke as far as southern intellectual schools. No one has ever disputed that UVA is of the South's best party school.

This was even quoted in the most recent Fiske Guide 2007.

Exactly. UVA is no doubt a great school with great academics. if you want a public school UVA is tops. But I wouldnt say it has the Ivy intellectual feeling of Harvard or Yale.
Also there is nothing wrong with being one of the biggest party schools. Sometimes ppl think of that as a negative, but seriously, wat would be the opposite? Nerd Hard Core sober school?

You could even add MIT to the top schools that throw great parties.

Michigan State

Im going to jump on SHeSays Bandwagon and Go with MSU. though im super biased cause i got in there. :D

Colgate!!!!!!

Fsu ?!? ?!?

Only one mention of Tulane so far, so I'll second that. Also, can't believe that no one has mentioned Georgia & SMU!

FSU has really good party environment but academics from what i hear are bad. My aunt told me the school lost their school od education certification. also its not ranked in the top 50 public schiils. UF is way better and so is UM in Florida.

^^^^^ Academics at FSU are not "bad", they're not great but they're decent. The school of education, which is highly rated, has always been accredited. They had some kind of dispute about 10 years ago, regarding an issue ralated to accrediation. This year is probably one of the lowest that USNews has ever ranked FSU, they are usually Top 50 public and Top 80 national. Currently it is 51st for public, but projected to bounce back to where it was a couple of years ago. The gap between UF and FSU is not as big as you make it out to be. Also, FSU is much better than UM for graduate studies across the board. Next time ,do a little research.

FSU MBA, lets not base your research on projections. you say it will "probably" bounce back to the top 50 and 80 national. well ill give u a fact and not a probable proection. Right now, according to U.S News, The Washington Monthly, Vanguard and the academic world university rankings by Shiang Tao University, FSU is dfinately not the top 50 public universitites int he U.S and definately not the top 80 national. Moreover, US News ranks it 110, and U.S News gives it the best ranking. Others of the aforementioned ranking guides have ranked FSU as 150, 200, 120....
You also mentioned, FSU normally ranks better, well according to U.S New's rankings from 2005 and 2004, FSU has not changed at all this year. It was ranked 109th last year.

University of Florida has always been a better university. It is for one thing a lot more competetive and harder to get into. University of Florida is a Public Ivy League university along with University of Virginia and other top public Uni's, not FSU. for more info on that i provided a link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Ivy
UF has consistently been ranked among the top 20 public universities in the U.S. and Top 50 universities in the U.S. therefore, a gap of over 50 spots for naional universities, and 30 spots for public universities is a huge gap. Its like saying

I was not sure as to wether u were saying Umiami is wost than FSU overall, but if u were, u are wrong again. Miami has a top medical school and a top Law school. their business school although not better than FSU's is still quite good. Overall, Miami is ranked 54 nationally as opposed to 110 for FSU.

"Next Time DO a little Research"
Why dont you provide me facts rather than projections.

University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign

certain FSU depts. are better than those of UF and UMiami...such as Poli Sci and i believe Education.. but looking at the big picture i think UMiami and UF might be better schools

I was looking through the posts and whoever said "Michigan" has to be kidding me.

Michigan State owns Michigan in terms of partying.
