<p>What are the parties like? – they range from level 1s (in-room) and level 2s (invite-only) to huge parties where the whole campus is invited. There are usually big parties every weekend (level 3s or above). And by word of mouth, you can get into level 2s. At the big parties, there’s always the typical dancing, beer, etc.</p>
<p>Do students tend to go to house parties more or bars/clubs? – house parties, on the row</p>
<p>How often do students go out during a week? – for most of the party-going students, or at least for a significant portion, the time to party / go out starts on Thursday (though a few students are known to be partying on Monday!). I’d say many students go out to Palo Alto / surrounding areas at least a couples times a month, though more active students go a few times a week (to downtown, etc.)</p>
<p>Do the frats have a strong influence on campus? – I’d say “presence.”</p>
<p>Are there any issues between greeks and non-greeks? – Not that I know of.</p>
<p>How well is the gay community accepted? – Very well-accepted. In most of the world, being gay or gay-friendly is not socially acceptable, and being homophobic is the norm. At Stanford, it’s the exact opposite (homophobia is not “socially acceptable” at Stanford, much like racism). </p>
<p>Are there any openly gay members in the frats? – There are gays in frats. They’re pretty accepting.</p>
<p>How well do students of different socioeconomic backgrounds mix? – Pretty well, I’d say. It almost never comes up.</p>
<p>Is there a strong hook-up culture on campus or do students tend to find someone and stick with them? or both? – I’d say that hookups are pretty common. There are many people in relationships, but obviously there are more hookups since they’re quick and easy. I’d say hookups are less common the higher the class.</p>
<p>Do these tendencies change as underclassmen become upperclassman? – As for the other tendencies, I don’t think there’s much of a change.</p>
<p>What about race relations? Are there any tensions or race related issues on campus? – Generally, no. But there are always those who are against having ethnic-themed dorms, or having community centers, etc. I don’t think this necessarily counts as “racism,” but there’s sometimes talk of people getting in for their race, etc. but that’s rare.</p>
<p>and finally: How happy are you with your choice? – absolutely happy—if given the chance to decide all over again, I’d choose Stanford easily.</p>
