So I'm determined to change CMU's rep of being a socially-inept school (or at least find a few good parties). So I have a few questions.. How is the level of interaction between CMU and Pitt? I know they are 5 minutes apart but do students from both campuses interact? I have also heard that Carnegie frats only let girls party.. is this true?

Yeah, there are some definitely sweet parties out there. Wait, you mean LAN parties, right?

There were parties going on pretty much every weekend, though they weren’t quite the same scale you’d see down at Pitt. Most of the parties I went to were house parties held by my friends where we’d have 15-30 people. It was mostly to have fun and hang out with friends instead of hooking up with random people (not that there’s anything wrong with it).

I remember when one of my friends and I were getting some ice cream down at Dave & Andy’s and stopped in the Eckerd next door. He needed was buying some of the red party cups. The cashier asked him where the party was, and he replied, “Up in Squirrel Hill, it’s a CMU party.” The cashier just went, “Oh, I’m sorry. :(”

But are CMU kids welcome at Pitt parties? Hanging out with friends is cool but everyone needs a few random hookups every now and then… :)

You can get random hookups at CMU if you want.

I imagine you could get into some Pitt parties; it’s not like they ask for your Pitt ID at the door. My brother helped start a frat at Pitt, and I know he had a few people from CMU that he knew show up now and then, but that was mostly because they were known through other channels (he had a friend or two from ROTC since CMU and Pitt share ROTC officers and whatnot).

Well, that’s good to hear. Just out of curiosity, how easy is it to buy alcohol and such in the area around CMU? With a fake that is…

Lol that’s not something you should be asking on a college forum. the social scene isn’t that bad, but I don’t know much about upitt parties. some of them are pretty sketchy. upitt girls come down to cmu frat parties a lot.

I was hoping it would get answered before i got banned :)
