Unfortunately, I missed the Interview deadline for X College which is Dec. 2nd, and emailed them just a few days later (when I learned there was a deadline...). Of course, they said I could not officially interview.

I feel pretty bad that I did not get the chance to interview, as it is very important for admissions, so I started think about alternatives. One in particular:

A teacher at my school is an X Alum. Would it work to have them "interview" me unofficially and write on my behalf and mention that I did so as a back and forth informal interview just as it would be for a real alumni interview?

Um, is an interview mandatory? Or strongly recommended?
Because if it isn’t, don’t do it. It seems a little too over the top, and might come off as a little… obnoxious.
Ok, I have issues with vocab. That was the closest word I could find to what I wanted to describe… sorry :(

But good luck!

No I agree, it is not exactly the approach I would like to take 100 percent.
But they said not doing an interview won’t hurt me… I just think that an interview can help quite a lot…
I just want to see what my fellow CC’ers have to say :)

Interviews are rarely important in admissions. They can help a little, but not much. Not doing an interview isn’t a big deal at all. I don’t think the alumni interview would even be accepted- the process just doesn’t work like that.

It doesn’t hurt to try, and it’s usually good to do something different! However, interviews aren’t terribly important at most places so don’t stress it too much.

I think out of so many colleges, only MIT strongly recommends/requests an interview.
