I am going to attend pBUILD this August, but I was not sure about the whole move in situation, since we would have to get there a week early. Would we have to have parents bring our move in stuff a week later, or have them ship it, or can we bring our move in stuff with us during pBUILD? The pBUILD email stated that more information would follow but I wanted to get an idea from past pBUILD goers since the email is yet to come.

Also, what kind of experiences did you guys have at pBUILD? i.e. what types of volunteer experience, activities, whether you thought it was worth it, etc.

Any input is appreciated ! Thanks .

I did BUILD (as a first-year) and was a crewleader my sophomore year too.

Don't bring your move-in stuff with you to BUILD; there won't be anywhere for you to put it. My best advice would be to have your parents bring it; if they can't bring it, you can consider having it shipped, but remember that Duke won't hold packages early (See the Orientation/Blue Book for this info). I just had my parents bring my stuff with them when they picked me up from BUILD.

BUILD is totally worth every second - it's amazing on so many levels. You'll experience it yourself first hand and make great friends you'll have for all 4 years of Duke (I did!).

There's a BUILD motto/saying (ripped off from someone, but I can't remember who right now) - "We'll sleep when we're dead."

In other words you will be SOOO busy that by the last day you will hardly be able to stay awake, but you know what? You won't care!
