Past Transfers! I need your advice!

So I attended a community college for two years and I successfully managed to transfer to a top twenty university! It's cool being the only CC transfer out of 120, but I've quickly come to realize that my education at my CC has left me quite unprepared. Per my advisors advise, I am currently enrolled in the easiest classes my university has to offer... and I'm really grinding and struggling along! We took an online, open book, no time limit embryology quiz and I scored a 69%! Thank god it's only worth < 1% of our grade but I'm a little petrified!

Does anyone have any ideas, studying tips, or other personal stories that they would like to share? I really want to know how you coped with acclimating to higher academic standards and I especially want to know what you did to help.

I'm learning a lot here, which is great! It's exactly what I asked for but I don't want to fail. I need to do everything and anything that I can to succeed. Really, I think personal stories, study tips, and helpful words would be nice :/ . Thanks! No rude comments... I seriously need help and feel alone. All other transfers in my group are getting along great with their classes... I seem to be the only one struggling.

And from what I heard, "transfer shock" is relatively common... How do you cope and get rid of it? lmao. OH I FEEL LOST!

Form study groups with other people and don’t overload too much in the first quarter or two. Reach out to previous transfer students at your university who did the same thing as you and ask them for advice

Outline the textbook, particularly for classes which require a good deal of memorization. I’d also recommend talking to the professor and explaining that you’ve just transitioned from a less rigorous school to one that is much more rigorous so in that regard you’re like a freshman. After that ask if there’s any advice he or she can give regarding how to handle the work. Often professors are more than happy to help and some may have even transferred themselves (my physics professor did and he was happy to explain how to survive in a large lecture class).
