How would you rank these schols academically...

(not inlcuding Army or Navy)

Colgate, Lehigh, Holy Cross, Bucknell, Lafayette, American

How would you rank these schols academically...

(not inlcuding Army or Navy)

Colgate, Lehigh, Holy Cross, Bucknell, Lafayette, American

Colgate, Bucknell, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Lehigh, American imo.

^^Agreed.^

i don't know a lot about some of those, but i'm at american and very happy with it academically.... i work my ass off all the time; the professors are awesome are so are the extracurricular events and clubs that relate to my major

of those schools, Holy Cross probably has the roughest curriculum, and of course a Jesuit education is always a good one. but colgate and bucknell are more selective and probably have better job placement and more prestige

im applying to all of them except american

For engineering, I would argue that Lehigh beats them all....easily. Perhaps for science and business as well.

yeah, it really depends on your intended major

Lehigh deserves a better rank.

Is lehigh the only one with engineering?

bucknell has engineering

Lafayette has engineering too.

From historical perspective US News rankings from mid 1980's to present; Colgate, Holy Cross, Bucknell, Lafayette, Lehigh. Although Lehigh is the only Patriot School classified as National University as opposed to National Liberal Arts. From a national reputation Colgate and Holy Cross are better known while the other 3 are more mid-Atlantic but Bucknell is recruiting more national. As far as alumni networks this year's Atlantic Monthly indicated that Holy Cross produces more business leaders than any other Patriot League school. Also Colgate and HC have annual alumni giving rates of around 50% while Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh trail.

Colgate's alumni giving rank will go way down for next year unfortunatly

Why do you say that?

I don't understand why Lehigh is ranked below Lafayette... going by pure academics it seems like Lehigh has more to show for itself. Maybe in overall experience lafayette MAY be higher, but I'm not even sure of that.

...care to share the logic?

From a sports perspective, Holy Cross has the longest association with the Ivy League schols. HC has played more football and basketball games with Harvard, Dartmouth, Brown or Yale. Colgate has long series with nearby Cornell and played more football games with Princeton although Holy Cross and Princeton play each year in basketball. Factoring in academics and athletics, Colgate and Holy Cross would rank higher than the Penn. schools.

American came so close to beating HC Sunday in basketball, they were ahead almost the whole time... and lost in overtime, it was crazy

Holy Cross ties Lafayette in US News rankings at 31st in the LAC category, and both rank a little below Bucknell at 26th. Colgate comes in at 16th. Lehigh's programs are much broader than those schools and is ranked under National Universities at 37th. All are good, solid schools, and it's a bit silly to say one is better than the other in general terms. It comes down to the student and his area of interest.

Just out of curiosity, what is meant by "patriot league"/"school"?

"patriot league" is the sport conference that hey all play in . the schools are all in the same league, div 1
