Which school is the best academically? Lehigh, Lafayette, or Bucknell?

Colgate.

EDIT: 10ch.

Both sons applied and were accepted to Lafayette and Bucknell--(other schools too)--visited Lehigh but neither one felt that it was the place for them. Academics appear to be fairly equal at all three schools--all are well respected for Engineering, as well as other areas. S2 will attend Lafayette in the Fall for ChemE. Research opportunities there are outstanding, and the financial aid package offered by Lafayette was far and away better than Bucknell. Overall, son liked Lafayette better, location, facilities, etc, but in fairness, did not see Bucknell as in depth on the visit. I will be happy to answer questions (if I can!) about Lafayette and why he chose it.

Colgate is considered to be the academic best of the Patriot league, and all the others are pretty much the same at a slightly lower level. Colgate, however, doesn't have engineering.

I believe that Colgate does have an arrangement with Columbia regarding engineering. Don't know the details, but am sure the Colgate admissions office would be of help.

As for the OP's quandry about the three schools, because all three campuses are so distinct and different, it'll become a question of personal preference after she visits them.

I turned Lafayette down and am going ot Bucknell

What helped you make up your mind, A-P-87?

I get the impression that you not even consider or maybe even llook at Colgate, just out of curiousity, why not?

AP87--were you waitlisted that you are only making your decision now? What was it that made the decision for you and what will you be studying?

bUCLNELL LOOKLED NICER... that was basically the only thing it boiled down to. They were both equal. Food and dorms also better at Bucknell.

*Bucknell.. spelled it wrong

Good call, AP87 - hope you have the time of your life there.
