Paying for College

I've decided to attend Johns Hopkins University. After considering financial aid (mostly grants, thank God), the tuition comes out to be about $30,000 a year. I really want to go, and I will. However, my parents right now are only willing to pay $15,000 a year. They can pay more, but they plan to buy a house at don't want to put their entire savings towards my education. I understand and am cool with that. I'm grateful for what their doing for me, but I'd still like to graduate with very little debt. How could I reduce the costs? I don't think having JHU reevaluate my FA offer will do anything because my parents have no debt, no mortgage, or any major financial burden. I'm getting a little bit worried.

Thanks

apply for every single scholarship you can see and work during the breaks and like 5 hours a week during school. It will add up to 5,000-10,000 per year so you'll graduate with a MAX of 40k in debt, but more like 30ish and possibly 20 k

There are plenty of scholarships you can get after you start college that can really help with cost. Look for local groups/clubs that give scholarships.

The above is great advice, but also look for private scholarships that some companies give out. If you work somewhere, don't hesitate to ask your employer if there are any particular scholarships that they sponsor. The best of luck to all and get that money!

Tuition, board, meal plans, books, travel expenses, misc college cost. You have to add all tht up. Yeah a good on-campus job will help.
