Paying Tuition and fees as an international

As an international my only option for paying tuition is through a wire transfer, but I'm not sure how I can get a wire transfer done before the 20th August if I'm registering for classes on the 17th August without incurring late fees? I've called the Student Financial Affairs office, the Office of international services and even The School of Cinematic Arts (where I'm majoring) and no one had a clue.

I feel like there's some piece of information I'm missing or internationals are treated differently. Anyone have any experience dealing with this type of thing?

I am not sure of the answer to this so maybe someone else does but please call/email usc as soon as you can to try to get an answer to this from them. Do not put this off until the last minute!

Prompt reply!

I did, I called OIS, Financial Services and even SCA.

Anyone else you know I can call lol?

None of them knew the answer? Try calling admissions also.

I had the same experience last week when I called Financial Services last week to enquire about payment of fees for my daughter. The people who answered my first two calls were clue less but during the third call I was suggested to remit about 50% of the expected tuition/other fees (including housing, meal plan, health insurance) as this would cover the cost of the first term.

They suggested to pay a round figure now as it may take them about 2-3 weeks to confirm international wire transfer payments. The deadline for USC to receive funds is Aug 20 so we are planning to arrange our remittance this week.

I was told USC can accept payments via credit card if the card is issued in USA. So this will not really be an option for most international students.

You can see the estimated cost at
[USC Financial Aid - Applying & Receiving Financial Aid - Undergraduate - Costs](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/applying_receiving/undergraduates1/costs.html)
This site also has a link that gives the wire transfer details but it appears that the site may be down now. From what I remember the transfer has to be arranged to USC`s account with Bank of America. Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot Haresh, I’ll see if I can call SFS again and wire the round figure this week.

Welcome Haresh! I see that you are a new member…I am a USC parent too. Son is going to be freshman. We are int’l but U.S citizens living abroad so son will attend the Int’l Orientation.

schiko: You are welcome. In case you have some new information please share with us.
In the meanwhile I found the wire transfer instructions on this link
[USC-FBS - sfs - Wire Transfers](<a href=“Student Financial Services”>Student Financial Services)

pixelljig: Thanks! Yes I am a new member and my daughter will be a freshman in Marshall this fall. We are based in Japan and are looking forward to the Trojan experience.

Haresh, is your daughter at ASIJ? I have a dear friend there.

I just recently got this message from the Cashier’s office:

"For your convenience, the following is an estimated cost of tuition and
mandatory fees for the Fall 2010 term. You can use this table as a guide
to calculate the estimated cost of tuition and fees (please visit
[Schedule of Classes: Fall 2010: Tuition and Fees](http://www.usc.edu/academics/classes/term_20103/tuition_and_fees.html) for
additional information).

In addition, please do not send more than the estimated cost of tuition and
fees as all extra monies for incidentals must be sent to your personal bank
account. Any funds sent in excess will be returned (for instructions on
how to submit a wire transfer please visit
[USC-FBS - sfs - Wire Transfers](<a href=“Student Financial Services”>Student Financial Services) ):

Tuition (Semester)
Regular Session 001
Undergraduate Students

12-18 units $20,192.00
Unit basis 1,360.00"

So I guess we wire $20,192.

shicko: thanks for sharing this information with us. My daughter`s online statement of a/c (EPAY) shows the housing cost and meal plan costs as well. So we are planning to remit these and the insurance cost as well. We will probably remit about $28000.

pixeljig: my daughter went to Seisen International School. ASIJ was too far for us as it is outside Tokyo. She however has many good friends in ASIJ. I understand that there is atleast 1 ASIJ student who will be joining USC this fall as she attended the SCend off party organised by USC Tokyo office earlier this month.
