International Funds Transfer Crisis. HELP !!

This is pretty urgent, really..

Could anyone please tell me just how a new, incoming international student can do the following at any cost, BEFORE landing on US soil :

1) Set up a local account in a financial institution near USC (yeah, such as Credit Union, BoA, etc)

2) Send funds by wire transfer to that newly created account (taking into account the HUGE delays in the process of international wire transfers)

3) Arrive at USC knowing that he's got sufficient funds from which to settle his USC bills within the deadline..

And yes, just in case you're wondering, this is a crazy situation - internationals are forced to register for classes just FIVE days before the start of classes, and forced to clear payments within a gap of just TWO days. Could we be cutting it any finer ?

Sincere thanks to anyone and everyone who can help me out here..

wait i am international too and i taught it would be easy to do wire transfer thing. is it really this hard?

hey! I’m an international transfer as well. I am interested in the 5 month payment plan and called the office of financial service about that same question …

In my case the answer was that :

we will register during the orientation. I will be able to enter the payment plan but my first payment will be done just after registration… then each payment will be due the first of every month…

As I understand, we are able to pay with credit, debit or electronic check … you should be able to pay with an account from your country …

this is where I found info (again this is about the payment plan, but I think that the payment methods should be the same). [USC-FBS - sfs - payplan-tc](<a href=“Student Financial Services”>Student Financial Services)

you can also give them a call… hope the info is of any use, if you get some new info, it would be great if you post it to us :)

USC’s credit union would be your best bet. It’s pretty easy to get an account as a student and I know most internationals did this.

There’s also a BofA across the street from campus, as well as a new Chase bank. Look on their websites to see if you can fill out an application online and what (if any) provisions are listed for international residents.

Why don’t you just pay bills with a credit card? You can sign up for the USC Payment Plan to break it up into smaller chunks paid monthly too.

Anyways, you should be able to get a USC Credit Union account.
