I'm sure it's just me, but I have found navigating the OSCAR website to pay the tuition is a bit confusing. I have logged into OSCAR and then gone to Student Services & Financial Aid, Registration, and then I THOUGHT I was supposed to go to Student Invoice Statement And Web Payment Options, but I don't see an invoice on that page. All I see is info talking about Summer Fee Deadlines. Does this mean the invoice isn't up yet? Also, I am also eligible for HOPE and have signed up for it. How does that work with paying tuition?

Sorry for the confusion. Hopefully someone can help me out! Thanks!

The invoice isn't up yet.

HOPE usually gets disbursed the day before the fee deadline. Just pay the amount left over after all the "anticipated scholarships" have been credited. HOPE will cover your tuition, some mandatory fees, and will give you a book allowance.

Will it show when the invoices are up what the anticipated scholarships are? How will we receive the book allowance?

If the anticipated scholarships aren't shown immediately, then they'll be there very shortly afterward.

I never actually use the book allowance for books. I assume it's a store credit that can be used at the Barnes & Noble located in Tech Square. I always use it as a credit against my total cost of attendance (i.e. because of it, my parents pay $150 less.) As I've written elsewhere, the only time you should even think about buying at the bookstore is if the textbook is brand new and no used copies are available.

The book allowance has nothing to do with the bookstore. It is just extra money. It is direct deposited into a bank account that you set up beforehand (this is what they prefer), or it is mailed as a check to your address that they have on file.

You will only get money back if you are not paying anything besides tuition and fees. In other words, tuition and fees costs something like $2800 (just a guess). HOPE will pay $3000, so you will get a check or a deposit of $200. BUT, if you are paying for room and board, buying a parking permit, foodplan, or have parking tickets on your bursars account then the extra $200 or so will just be subtracted from the cost for these things.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know that.

So in essence, since I am paying for room&board and a meal plan, I don't need to worry about seeing the Book Allowance ... at all?

exactly. it will just cost $150 less
