i just paid my application fee for Upenn but the common app isn't showing my payment as paid and as a result i cannot submit my Penn application! and the deadline is tomorrow!!! I looked on the common app website and it said that it will take a couple of days to update my common app status to paid....now i won't be able to make the application deadline......what do i do?!?!?!?

File a support ticket. Usually, the status should say “submitted” and you’ll be fine. This is an error, so get them to respond directly to your concern. You’ll have an answer in a couple of hours.

I think you can always submit common app. The payment process is a separate process from submitting process. When my son did it, he submitted the Penn common app first and then he handed over the session to me and I paid with my credit card. Just go to your application all the way to the end, sign and submit. Even if the payment status is not updated, just submit and the payment status will catch up later.

how do I file a support ticket?

Did you submit supplement first, payment, and check the school forms? This happened to my son when he was trying to apply to Brown. There was something wrong with his application. I think it was having to do with his school forms. Tried it a couple of times and a couple of ways, and it finally went through.

omg im having the same problem with tufts!!!

It;s not showing up as submitted!

did urs work? what did u do?

and the wierd thing is…i got an email confirmation saying that I paid but it’s showing as “not submitted” on my app!!!

i checked the common application support website and they said it takes a few days for the status to change to paid…but Upenn wont accept the application until our common app status says paid…
anyone else who applied to Penn: when did u all pay?

As long as you submitted everything correctly, you will be fine. The paid status is unimportant, you are not the only one that will be submitting on the last day. The key here is that make sure that you have properly submitted everything, once you have done that, you cannot go back and change anything. Go back and try to open your submitted app again and you will see what I mean.

Well, I paid today and had the same problem with Upenn so Im getting nervous. Whats weird is that I paid for Amherst minutes later and it got through.

I had the same problem, I emailed them and just recieved this reply:

Thank you for your message.
If you have received a valid payment receipt from a Sallie Mae payment (email confirmation), but the payment is not showing up in the Common App Online, please use the “Other Fee Waiver” option or “Mail Check” to indicate payment. This will allow you to continue with the submission process. Your record will be updated within the next 24-48 hours to indicate the successful credit card payment.

Im having the same problem with Amherst! I paid and got an email, but it’s not letting me submit the common app because the payment isnt showing up on the website!
i did manage to submit my supplement though, strangely.

That’s because no supplement has a payment prerequisite :p

Anyways, follow this:

No, wait, I did what ohsnap said (clicked that i intended to use a fee waiver) and it worked! thank you so much!

Or yeah, what Anomaly said. lol.

seriously guys just relax.

Penn will not care if you can’t submit it on time b/c of an issue like this. Call the admissions office and I guarantee they will be very cool about it. No need to worry so much, trust me.

And yes I was admitted to Wharton and this is based on discussions I’ve had with the admissions people.
