Peddie and Blair are two of my top choices right now. They’re both in NJ which I like and seem to be really cool. What differentiates them? Which one is better? Why?
The one that accepts you.
DD3 and I visited both. We much preferred Blair’s bucolic setting. Peddie looked much more like a college campus. She was accepted at both and is very happy at Blair. Peddie has a very nice setup, though, and their athletic facilities are excellent.
Both good schools. Blair is in the middle of nowhere. This means fewer day students and the feeling of a self-contained bubble. Nice outdoors activities nearby.
Peddie is in a busier part of NJ, so easier to get to “civilization” and more day students. Both have a big enough boarding population that you’ll have a good boarding experience.
Both are very good schools. If you are accepted, hopefully you can visit and see which one feels right to you. No need to decide now! This would be a no-lose decision imho.
Just saw this topic. Older kid’s best friend’s parents went abroad for work and the boy chose to stay in the US and go to boarding school. He was accepted at Hill, Blair and Peddie and fell in love with Blair. He had a lot of interaction with very engaged faculty, lots of sports opportunities at all levels, and just a great boarding experience. He got excellent college counseling and good acceptances. He chose Williams.
If I am correct Blair has a much higher acceptance rate so it would probably be easier to get into.
Blair’s acceptance rate is 18%. This thread is also old and inactive.
