peer recs

So I already got into my top-choice school, and, since creative writing is kind of my thing, I decided to write peer recs for a couple friends. The thing is, I don't want to clutter their applications, and I don't know whether it would help or hurt in each case. I'm also not sure if my tone (typical college essay/tell a story) is right, or whether something more formal, more like a teacher rec, would be better. Some of the schools being applied to are Yale, Harvard, Cornell, U of Rochester, Chicago, Pittsburgh, SUNY Stonybrook, Princeton, Williams, Brandeis, and a bunch more LAC's that I haven't yet been told about. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've never written peer recs, but I think that you should write from a more personal standpoint rather than from a teacher-y standpoint.

What you can assume the college is looking for in a peer rec is a different view of the student. How do they treat other people? How do they interact in social groups? Are they the kind of person that is always interesting to talk to?

I have that exact same dilemna. I'm pretty much done with apps, but want to help some friends out. Is it worth doing? What does the adcom want to hear about?
