Peer schools you really respect...

hahah, no love for wustl.

my school is wustl and i have respect for:
hopkins, northwester, cornell, brown, etc.

apparently the feeling is not mutual :(

I’m going to Cornell and I’ll put in some love for WUSTL, I like you guys more than a couple of Ivys (but I won’t name names)

I actually have a lot of respect for WashU (it’s massive endowment, it’s ability to attract valedictorians and students, it’s ridiculous medical school, top notch biology programs, Chancellor Wrighton is awesome, and it’s gorgeous campus).

WUSTL gets to host Presidential and Vice Presidential debate forum. That is pretty awesome to watch.

There is some WashU love for you Nooob :)

hahah, sweet, thanks :)

Yeah dude, You probably realized that a lot of people who bash WashU are just jealous or in denial of WashU’s excellent position in the rankings. lol. Don’t mind them, they are just jealous of WashU!!! seriously.

I personally dislike UNC. Not only did they reject me, they also beat my beloved Wolverines in the finals of the NCAA tournament my Freshman year at college. Maybe we should start " colleges I hate for personal reasons!" thread! hehe!

School: U Chicago

Respect: Williams, Swarthmore, Hopkins, Caltech

My School: William & Mary

Respected Peers: Davidson, Haverford, Rice, Pomona/CMC, Dartmouth, Brown, Emory, Carleton

School: Stanford

Respected Peers: Princeton, Caltech, Harvard, MIT

My school: Penn

Respect: I respect more than I disrespect, probably, but among the Ivies alone I randomly have always been in total awe of Princeton. Even though they’re Penn’s rivals. Something about having history with Einstein and Nash (and now office hours with Nash!) really blows me away.

I also randomly have a whole load of respect for McGill in particular. I guess that’s a peer? Something about how they have such a (relatively) low tuition makes me feel like they are being very straightforward and practical with their students and with their mission as a school. They also don’t require essays or anything; they are a huge school and only have time to look at your scores thoroughly, and I appreciate that they’re honest about that and trust that you can figure out how to put your best foot forward through grades/scores. It’s also just such a large, driven place with endless resources and opportunities
a true academic powerhouse.

I also have always loved NYU because I get the same “powerhouse” chills from it, and its Greenwich Village location is unmatchable, but I’m not a fan of their poor financial aid and the administration’s poor treatment of its students this year (the whole “Take Back NYU” deal).

I agree, I go to Cornell and I’m in complete awe of Princeton, it just seems impeccable

lol you guys are so delusional. “I go to Community College A and I have respect for my peer school Ivy B.”

How is Michigan a peer to Princeton, Penn, etc?

With that said I go to Penn and have respect for Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Duke

^^^^Who stated Michigan was a peer to Princeton? It is however a peer to Penn, whether you believe it or not. Are you insinuating that Michigan is like a community college compared to Penn? Furthermore, I can assure you that Penn is not a peer school to Princeton.

^ Agreed :D

What makes Michigan special and on the level of Penn? It not a peer in that its not an Ivy League institution or top selective university. Penn is clearly the higher, more prestigious school. In football Michigan is well above Penn, but in academia I KNOW the contrary is true.

Penn is a peer to Princeton in that they are peers in a sports conference and “league”, plus I never said that Penn was a peer to Princeton. I said Penn was a peer to Duke, Columbia, Dart, and Brown.

So tell me, other than Wharton, how much better Penn is than Michigan? Name the disciplines it excells at over Michigan? The PA reviews of both are very close according to the USNWR. I mean to say that Michigan is certainly a peer of the “lesser” ivies like Penn.

ALL schools within the top 50 of USNWR are PEERS of one another. PERIOD. Harvard is a peer of Tulane, believe it or not, because they are BOTH amongst the top 2-3% or so of colleges within this country.

Just like your school valedictorian was probably a peer of the person ranked #10 or #20 or #30.

^ Especially since the top 50 schools in the US represent the top 1.2% of the schools in the nation. Only 0.05% of the world’s population has ever attended college. We take these things for granted but we are among the very elite in the world today. Unless ppl recognize this, they will constantly be roaming around on CC forums seeking acknowledgment, approval, and recognition for something they simply already have

Only recognizing that you are recieving an A+ education regardless of top tier school you attend can you be relinquished from depending on others to raise your self esteem for you.

and yet many of us still get prissy about the difference between two schools within the Ivy League, or the difference between a top public and an Ivy. Sorry, rjkofnovi, but
seriously?

Yes seriously. Penn is NOT a top Ivy. Michigan is a top public and is an academic peer of Penn.
