PeerTransfer - International Student paying their college tuition

Hi everyone !

Now that I've been admitted to the school of my day, I have to face the depressing part of financing my education. I got a very nice award from my school but, obviously, still need to pay for my education. I have been researching ways to pay fees/tuitions/etc ... without paying the exchange rate or even the fees that bank will take from you. It can get pretty bad as where you planned your budget and end up paying an extra 2000 euros (or whatever your currency is) because of exchange rates/ bank fees etc ... I have heard of PeerTransfer and some students who are currently enrolled in a US university suggested I used it to pay whatever I needed to pay to my school. I am looking for advices, experiences, feedback from your international fellows. If you are presently in the States or if you are in the same situation, how do you do to pay your college bills from your home country currency to dollars without having to pay crazy extra money ?

Thank you :)

I used a regular wire transfer through my foreign bank and that worked out fine. (If I remember correctly, I “lost” about 1.15% of my money on the transaction, which is still less than what PeerTransfer would take.)

I am fron HK. i have a China Construction Bank card and this bank its linked to Bank Of America.
So i can withdraw without being charged any fees

Yeah, once in the States, it shouldn’t be a problem, I was wondering about paying tuition and other big amounts of money

peerTransfer enables international students a way to pay tuition while offering the most competitive exchange rate available to students. peerTransfer even offers a Best Rate Guarantee which will beat any bank’s rate and fees. It’s even most cost-effective than wiring funds to an existing US bank account. It’s free for students and schools. www.peertransfer.com
