I have a question. Since I started college I have been a full time student. This coming quarter I am taking a lighter load only 8 credit hours. At my school this is 1/2 time student level. I was awarded the full Pell amount for the 09-10 year. If I take only 8 credit hours how much Pell should I get for the coming quarter.

If it is considered 1/2 time then you will get half what you would have got if you were full time. I’m not sure how the quarter system works so can’t give you exact numbers. For the semester system a full time Pell would be $5350 for the year, $2675 for the semester. 3/4 time would be $4013 for the year, $2007 for semester. Half time would be $2675 for the year, $1338 for the semester. Less than 1/2 time $1338 for the year, $669 for the semester.

Adjust it for however quarter periods work. I am not familiar with them.

In the quarter system we go to school for roughly 3 months, have a short break, then back again for 3 months. We do this for 4 quarters in a year.

If you were full time this quarter then you should get half the amount of Pell you did this quarter next quarter.

Pell is based on your enrollment for the period - full time = full quarter’s Pell for that period, 3/4 = 3/4 full time Pell, 1/2 = 1/2 the full time Pell.

12 credits & up=full time for Pell = 100% of scheduled award for the term
9-11 credits= 3/4 time for Pell=75% of the scheduled award for the term
6-8 credits=1/2 time for Pell=50% of the scheduled award for the term
3-5 credits=1/4 time for Pell=25% of the scheduled award for the term

This is the same no matter where you attend school.
