I received full pell amount of $6100. For my second semester I had only enrolled in 9 units, so my pell was reduced to 75%. However I was waiting for a class because I was waitlisted. I finally added the class so Im now at full time status with 12 units. I guess it was too late because my financial aid disbursements were already sent out a few days after with the 75% pell amount. My question is, will I still receive the remaining balance since I am now attending full time?
Yes, but you may have to go ask for the extra funds. Most schools won’t re-review the awards unless asked. Just stop by FA and have them check your account.
I agree with @twoinanddone you need to drop by the FA office. They don’t necessarily get notified if you take additional classes.
It is possible that you might not get the increase, depending on when you got into the class. If the class was added after the end of drop-add, you cannot get the additional Pell. Do check with the financial aid office.
Thank you Kelsmom! I haven’t started class yet. It begins in a few weeks, but I already received the disbursements for the semester.
Thanks everyone! I will talk to financial aid and see what they say.
Not with Pell, but both of my kids currently in college have received adjustments to their financial aid as late as mid-semester. My guess is that it gets handled automatically, it does at the 3 schools I have experience with. But I would call them just to make sure.
I called financial aid and they said the system automatically reviews the account every Friday. I checked on Friday and it was correct. The rest if my pell will be released. Thanks everyone!
