Hello

My friend told me that you had to use a pen for the essay portion of the test, is that true?

probably not cause they dont let us use highliters or pens 4 critical reading, and y will they now?! but good to check.

I checked. Only pencils are allowed.

Yeah, everyone used pencils when I took it.

they say you can finish your essay if you have enough after you've finished the test. did any1 have enough time? how long?

When I took it, I had about six minutes left over where I just sat around doing nothing. You should be able to finish your essay in 20 minutes. If you work fast enough on MC, you should be able to get a few spare minutes for proofreading.

I had time after the multiple choice to go back... about 10 minutes, enough to write a conclusion paragraph ^_^.

I finished my essay early and did all the multiple choice, went back to edit my essay for all those stupid little grammar mistakes... It was 1 paragraph, no kidding. 780. Writing is a joke. Just make sure your grammar is impeccable and they can't take off any points. Write on both sides of the page, too. 1 paragraph both sides. Yea. Like I said. Writing is a joke.

i wish i could say the same. mc is gonna be easy but Im not sure about the essay

I got a 77/80 subscore in the essay part of the SAT II Writing and I used pencil.

And I distinctly remember that we were informed that we could use only pencil.

good luck

Pencil. Which is good since you can erase mistakes. You can go back to the essay if you're done with MC early. if you're done with essay early you can go on to the MC i believe

one question on the writing....does it affect your score if you write in cursive?

How you write is not supposed to affect your score. But in reality, you're more likely to gain approval from the reader if he/she can read your writing easily--cursive or printed.

It's interesting how everyone seems conclusive that pencils are the way to go. I distincly remember some time ago, probably a year, someone asked the same question and most responses were to use pens. Obviously, pencil is the way to go since it specifiys on the instructions. However, I used pen and still got a 10. (I dunno whether my using pen influence my score or not.)

This Thread Makes No Sense!!! Why Is There A Debate Whether To Use A Pen Or Pencil, Obviously When You Go To The Test Site They'll Let You You

they say pencil at the test site.
