PENN 2018 ACTIVE WAITLIST

Does Penn have a “Z list” like Harvard or the U of Chicago?

^ Never heard of it at Penn (and I’ve been following Penn and its admissions for decades). :)

to 45 Percenter:

I have looked through the past several years and noted your astute and accurate commentary…I have also noted that in the past others have also made this observation…And I have read your explanation for your interest. I have concluded that you are either Dean Furda or a very, very unusual alumnus(a) with a lot of time on your hands.

Respectfully, Poochie2

Interesting plot twist @poochie2…got me thinking now

Nope, not Dean Furda (nor any other employee of Penn). And as for having a lot of time on my hands, it doesn’t take much time to pop in here once in a while with a (hopefully) helpful post or two. Keep in mind that I’ve been posting here for more than 7 years, so I don’t post as frequently as it might seem from reading a lot of my previous posts all at one time. There are lots of parents and alums who post on here MUCH more than I do (with post counts in the tens of thousands), but they don’t post that often in the Penn forum, so you may not be aware of them (they tend to post in the general forums, the parents’ forums, and other schools’ forums, depending on their alumni or parent affiliations).

And as for being “very, very unusual,” well, I guess I have to leave that judgment to others. :P

We appreciate what you do for us, 45 Percenter! Thank You!

It would’ve been cool if it was Dean Furda
Just pulling your leg @45Percenter

I knew you were. ;)

But I actually have often wondered if the Admissions Office follows what’s said and asked about Penn on CC and, if they do, what they think or say about some of our posts. :P

I am sure they must monitor it. A few years ago wen Penn sent out likely emails there was a lot of confusion as to whether they were legitimate or not. There was a lot of chatter on CC about it, and sure enough Dean Furda did come on CC to clear it up and assure those who received them that they were in fact real.

^ That’s right–I had forgotten about that. It was quite a surprise when he did show up here.

In fact, just found it:

<a href=“Message from Dean Eric J. Furda - University of Pennsylvania - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1097622-message-from-dean-eric-j-furda-p1.html</a></p>

So when exactly in June will we know our final decisions? Later in the month, or earlier as in now?

@ivyleaguefan Actually, if someone is accepted off of the waitlist and declines, admissions will just call the next person that fits the spot there hoping to fill. So no worries,

As June wears on it becomes harder and harder to wait…Getting in will be worth the wait…At this point, so late in the process, if you are not selected, I wonder if we will be offered a consolation prize…you know…like admission into Brown?

Did anyone else receive a Phone Call/Email from their Regional Admissions Officer asking if you are still interested in attending UPenn in the fall?

I hope this is a good sign!

@yankeefanner2013 I didn’t. But I’m international so I don’t know whether I should get those anyway.

@YankeeFanner2013‌ @sgsg13‌ idk about anyone else, but I haven’t received any phone calls. I’m fairly certain though that all wait list decisions (from Penn) are made via email

@YankeeFanner2013‌ I received a phone call 2 days ago from my Regional Admissions Officer - she inquired whether I’d still like to attend Penn, as you said. I’m from Texas; not sure if that has any bearing in this situation, though.

@ssdragon22 I see. How did the conversation go? Did it seem generic?

@YankeeFanner2013‌ It was a short and simple conversation. She just apologized for making me wait till now, then proceeded to say there’s likely a spot open if I’m still willing to enroll. Pretty generic I’d say - still not sure if that means I’m in or not.
How did yours go?

@ssdragon22 I missed the phonecall as I was at school. Left a message and also sent an email- waiting for a reply, so I assume we’ll be talking on Monday when the office reopens.

Double Comment ignore
