This thread is for all Penn 2018 applicants who are on the active waitlist.

I’m on the list but don’t know what to think tbh

i dont want to get my hopes up, i feel like its mostly up to chance now like how many ppl drop out and out of those how many are similar to you so they can use you to fill up that space for statistical/logistical reasons

Any idea on how many people were accepted in mid-May? I am also on the active wait list.

I’m on the list too. where are you going if you don’t get into Penn?

UC Berkeley

UC Berkeley…That is not much of a difference from Penn. You are sitting pretty!

Northwestern aka the #1 Ivy reject school

I would look at Northwestern and Penn as being pretty comparable.

Thanks @poochie2 ! Wharton is so good though, I really want to go. What about you?

Boston College (Honors A&S)

Being on this extended active wait list is a double-edged sword. It is exciting. Up to this point I had been able to keep myself from getting excited about being on the Penn wait list in that getting picked off of it was truly remote. Now that I am on the current list it is hard not to feel a little more optimistic even though the likelihood of getting picked off of it remains remote. The flip side of the increased excitement is the impact that will come when they close off the wait list after this prolonged period of limbo.

^the waitlist purgatory is real. im pretty sure they couldnt design a slow torture worse than this if they tried

Hey, don’t hate on Northwestern! Just sent a second appeal in an email a couple of minutes ago. Wish me luck buddies. Good luck to the rest of y’all.

Johns Hopkins, Bloomberg Scholar

Honestly, I don’t know what I would even do if Penn accepted me. I wasn’t aware of their Active Waitlist until I searched through my spam today. Penn is such a ridiculously good school, but as an aspiring premed, it doesn’t really get any better than Hopkins. I’m so confused, excited, anxious, honored- all of the above, honestly.

Did they tell you how many applicants remain on the “active wait list”?

@FuXiaoBai well you could always elect to have your name off for the greater good of all of us, the demented souls here!!! haha just kidding

Hey…
I accepted the position in the waitlist but have not received any news since then. I saw that some students were released from the waitlist and some were placed in the active waitlist, but I haven’t received any information regarding being on either category :-/
Is there anyone else who is the same? Anyone who has any idea what group I fall into?

You are the first that I have heard of that hasn’t heard one way or the other. Are you sure it did not go into your junk mail?

I got it! I combed through my spam folder and I got it! I’m on the Active Wait-list too! thanks @poochie2
